A Message from the our Board of Directors
|
|
CCA Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10th, at 6:00 p.m. in the library.
One of the agenda items that the Governance Committee will be discussing is updating the CCA Non-Negotiables in order to update them to current standards. Although the suggested changes are primarily wording, we invite community participation in this process. The CCA Board meeting is set up to have community input at the beginning of each meeting (so please arrive on-time). You will have opportunities to provide feedback between September 10th - Oct 8th and the plan is to vote on the final Non-Negotiables at the October 8th Board meeting. We will use the Eagle to communicate those feedback opportunities. If you have any questions about this process, please reach out to Andrea Evashevski, Board Vice President, at
aevashevski@cherrycreekacademy.org

We are on our 2nd week of sales for the Charleston Wrap Fundraiser.
Did you know that PTO uses these funds to put on the annual carnival, the Multicultural Festival, Pastries for Parents, and other fun activities for our students and families. Don't forget to have your child drop off any prize tags by Wednesday to be entered into a drawing for a free dress day.
The PTO is also still accepting fundraiser
opt out forms.
If you choose to donate directly in lieu of the fundraiser, your child will receive their keychain prize on
September 20, 2019.
The opt-out donation will also count toward your child's classroom total.
All forms must be returned to CCA by
September 13, 2019
, and the winning classes will be announced
September 20, 2019.
Our PTO Fundraising Committee also needs your help! They are looking for volunteers to help distribute prizes during lunch on Fridays! Please click

Peer Helpers, led by the awesome
Ms. Yamauchi
, CCA's Student Support Specialist, are an amazing group of middle school students who focus on building a sense of community and kindness throughout our school.
Our Peer Helpers work with their peers as well as younger students through activities like peer conferencing and meeting one on one with students who need a peer to talk to. Our Peer Helpers have helped solve conflicts at recess, problems between friends, and have buddied up with and checked in on younger students who were going through a hard time.
Peer Helpers also have "
Lunch Bunches.
"
Lunch Bunches
are Peer Helper Student run groups for middle schoolers that occur once each week.
Lunch Bunches
are organized by grade levels and serve to provide students with a place to make new friends and build positive peer relationships for the Cherry Creek Academy middle school community. All middle school students are welcome and encouraged to join their
Lunch Bunch
group!

Have you heard your child excitingly tell you they visited Mr. Loomis’ mailbox today to drop off their Caring Community slip? Or have you noticed a colorful square sticker on their shirt? If you have, your child was recognized by a CCA staff member as a Caring Community member. Caring Community is a school wide program that honors students who demonstrate one of CCA's eight character traits: l
eadership, responsibility, respect, loyalty, integrity, humility, diligence and compassion
.
Bimonthly, a name from each grade level is drawn for the monthly Caring Community winners. Free dress and a prize is awarded to these students.
Congratulations to our August Caring Community Winners!
