Dear McAuliffe Parents and Families,
I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break. we are officially into the home stretch of the school year and it is time to start planning for year end activities. We have added a new section to the Eagle Eye for 8th Grade Activities which will be updated with relevant information for end of year activities for our promoting 8th graders.
All Eagle Eye newsletters are posted on our school website for easy reference.

As you know, this Thursday, April 15th and Friday, April 16th are Distance Learning days to allow for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are held by appointment only. You will only be able to access the conference for your chosen teacher based on your appointment time. If you have scheduled a conference, please use the list below to access the Zoom Links to connect with your student(s)' teacher(s).
How to Schedule a Conference:
- All families (LosAl@Home and McAuliffe) may call our school office between the hours of 9:00am and 3:30pm beginning Monday, March 29th. 714.816.3320
- Please note that the office is closed to accommodate Cohort arrivals every day from 8:25-8:35am and from 12:05-12:15pm
- Speak to the McAuliffe Office staff about which teachers you would like to conference with. Conferences at middle school are not mandatory and you may select which specific teachers you would like to see.
- McAuliffe Office Staff will schedule your conference(s) based on teacher availability.
- Please note that conferences must be scheduled by 2:00pm the day prior to your desired conference day. (For example, if you would like a conference on Thursday, April 15th, you must schedule the conference prior to 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 14th).
- All conferences will be held virtually and teachers will provide links for parent access.
- Phone conferences are also available and parents may indicate their preference when they call.
- If all appointments are booked, or there is a scheduling conflict. You may email your child’s teacher(s) to schedule based on all parties’ availability.

Abilities Awareness Week at McAuliffe
|
As you all know, last week was our Abilities Awareness Week at McAuliffe and we are so proud of the work we did to help students understand the #McAuliffeInclusionRevolution!
|
|

Make a Wish will be celebrating the upcoming Kindness/Peace Week with some Kindness Grams featuring Springtime, Ramadan, and Kindness week. All grams are $2.00 and include candy. Send as many as you'd like to your friends, students, teachers, and staff. Click this link for the McAuliffe Make a Wish website (menu/Kindness Grams). All purchases over $5.00 can be made directly to the Make A Wish Foundation. Purchases less than $5.00 can be made in cash to Room 26, Ms. Miller. Grams will be sold Monday, March 29 - Monday, April 19. All grams will be delivered on Thursday, April 23 to 4th period cohorts. **Each gram has a limited number of prints; if we run out of the one you have selected, we will do our best to send one similar to your original selection. Join our McAuliffe GSA Club!

Are you interested in joining McAuliffe's GSA club? The GSA Club (Gay-Straight Alliance) is a student-run organization where all students are welcome. LGBTQ+ and allied youth unite to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities.
This club will meet on Wednesdays from 3-3:30 beginning Wednesday, March 24th via Zoom.

After Spring Break it’s time for some spring cleaning! This week’s challenge is to clean out one drawer, closet, or space. When we remove clutter in our physical space, it clears up our minds to do good work! Check out the admin team getting their clean on!

Make-A-Wish Birthday Messages!
|
Now that we are back on campus, it's time to start celebrating all the birthdays we missed and all the upcoming ones. It's so easy to celebrate your child while helping the Make a Wish Foundation. Click on this link and complete the birthday information. You will receive a confirmation email from Ms. Miller within 48 hours. Birthday wishes can be purchased now for any time during the school year for a donation of at least $20. All donations are made directly to the MAW Foundation. 8th Grade Community Service
|
Students have an opportunity to be recognized at our 8th Grade Awards Night for outstanding community service. Students are recognized for completed 100, 200, or 300 hours of community service during their 3 years at McAuliffe!
Forms to verify community service are due on April 30th. You can download by clicking the image, or get a hard copy from the Front Office.

PTA Meeting Tuesday, 4/20

Please join us for our next PTA Meeting on Tuesday, April 20th at 9:30 via Zoom.

- Cash Prizes for Grades 6-8 and 9-12: 1st place = $500, 2nd place = $250, 3rd place = $125
- Projects are due by May 10, 2021
- Students can enter individually or in groups, but the prize will not be duplicated
- Check out video lessons on (1) how to develop your project idea; (2) how to do research, collect data and draw conclusions; (3) presenting your project/how to submit
- Science Experiments or Engineering Design projects will be accepted.
- Grade level groupings for judging/prizes: TK-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
- The top 5 projects per group will present to a judges panel on the evening of Monday, May 24.
Winners will be announced on May 28.
