Hall of Honor: Honoring our Veterans |
This year we are taking our traditional Veteran's Day Hall of Honor virtual! Students, ask your history teacher for the Google Classroom code to submit a slide honoring a family friend or loved one that has served in the United States armed forces. Submissions will be turned into a slide show for your classmates, families and the community to enjoy. All submissions should be turned into Google Classroom by the end of the school day on Monday November 9th.

LosAl@Home: Gridview for Group Discussions! |
Trying to replicate small group discussions virtually is definitely a challenge. The online learner is a different kind of student and getting them to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and insights is a goal for me. The noise and chatter of the classroom is something that I definitely miss. I think we truly learn best when we engage in dialogue with our peers. Looking at a situation from a different perspective is always enlightening. |

LosAl@Home: Distance Learning PE |
Here’s what I have so far: for PE, I made a “create your own Frankenstein’s monster” activity. The students would choose between 2 drawing prompts with a corresponding exercise. For example, if the students wanted their monster to have round, happy eyes they’d do 20 jumping jacks, but if they wanted their monster to have scary, angry eyes they’d do 20 calf raises. After the exercise, their “recovery” was a 30 second drawing break. |

Myth-O-Logues Coming Soon! |
Save the Date: December 4th! Advanced Drama will be streaming a pre-recorded performance of "Myth-o-logues" by Janice Harris. Enjoy a guided tour through Greek mythology from the comfort of your own home! You won't want to miss this monologue series. The link for viewing will be shared closer to showtime.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in contributing to the 2020-2021 McAuliffe Middle School Yearbook! Please click on any links that you or your children are interested in sending us pictures for and fill out as much of the form as you’d like.
If you only have pictures to submit for a certain part that’s okay! We’d love to see anything you have to offer and to include as many students as possible in this year’s Yearbook!

Join the "Among Us" Club! |
The club meets on Wednesdays from 1:00-2:00 via Zoom (link in GC). We're going to limit it to just middle school students. This is a chance to connect with all middle schoolers (LosAl@Home, McAuliffe, and Oak!) This club puts a smile on faces, encourages students to talk to each other, and allows students to meet new people. Thanks for your continued support!

Make-A-Wish Birthday Messages! |
Now that we are back on campus, it's time to start celebrating all the birthdays we missed and all the upcoming ones. It's so easy to celebrate your child while helping the Make a Wish Foundation. Click on this link and complete the birthday information. You will receive a confirmation email from Ms. Miller within 48 hours. Birthday wishes can be purchased now for any time during the school year for a donation of at least $20. All donations are made directly to the MAW Foundation.
