Thanks, LAEF!
This week, we received a $10,000 donation from LAEF (Los Alamitos Education Foundation) to support STEAM at McAuliffe! These funds will be used to (support the Media Center/STEAM teacher’s salary, purchase curriculum and supplies, etc.). STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.
In addition to donating $10,000 to each of our nine district schools, LAEF donated $25,000 to support the salaries of our district Mental Health Counselors. $115,000 in total donations was presented at the State of the District breakfast – see the photo below.
Since 2013, LAEF has given over $1 million to Los Al schools! We are so thankful to LAEF for all their efforts to support Los Al kids – through both fundraising and enrichment programs.
Los Al Honors McAuliffe Hero!
This year, the City of Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce recognized heroes in uniform for their bravery and courage and their service to their country and community.

At McAuliffe we are proud of members of our own community for their recognition and thank them for their service!

Career Cafe at McAuliffe: Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers Needed!

Career and college readiness is part of our vision in Los Al. It is our goal to prepare students for their future employment by providing awareness and skills training.  At McAuliffe we offer Career Cafe monthly as a way for students to learn about the careers performed by individuals within our community .  Speakers will share their career journey with a group of 25-35 students at both lunches. Speakers will share:
  • Their interest in their current field
  • Their education and training needed for their job
  • What a typical day is like for someone in this field
  • Advice to students looking to pursue a career in this field
Speakers will speak to students for about 20 minutes each session including time for questions and answers.   If you are interested in sharing your career, or know of anyone within the community that would be willing to share, please complete the google form  here .
The McAuliffe Breakfast Program is here! Breakfast at school is affordable! If you qualify for free and reduced price meals, you also qualify for the breakfast program, with no additional paperwork. If you must pay, breakfast costs $2.25. Nowhere else will you find a balanced breakfast at such a low cost.

So take advantage of this opportunity to start the day on the right foot. Your child will find breakfast at school provides not only a nutritious meal but also a relaxed atmosphere for socializing with friends and siblings.

Parents, one last “Back to School” item to check off your list. The Make a Wish Club at McAuliffe sponsors the “Birthday Wishes” on the school marquee. For only $20 you can celebrate your kid’s birthday AND support the Make a Wish Foundation. All of the money is sent directly to the Make a Wish Foundation. Two easy steps:   Click this link  and hit “birthday wishes.” Complete the information and then hit “donation” at the bottom. That takes you straight to the Make a Wish Foundation and you can make your contribution directly to the Foundation. Minimum donation: $20.00.
