Every November, we as a school community come together to show our appreciation for all the staff members at Douglas School for their hard work and dedication to our children and our families by donating baked goods of all kinds to take home to their families and share. This year in particular we cannot say “thank you” enough for all the hard work, planning, organization and patience that the staff have put in to make this year successful.

Here are the guidelines for the event:

  • We are asking families to only donate a STORE-BOUGHT and SEALED savory or sweet baked item for the staff (keep in mind: no refrigeration will be available)
  • The items will be collected outside the side door into a large bin. All items should be dropped off at 39 Mohegan Road in Acton from November 20th to November 21st 11:00am.
  • The staff will be presented with the array of treats on November 22nd for them all to enjoy!

Questions? Contact Kaarin Jeanson

This is a beloved event for our staff, and we want to continue this tradition! Please sign up to volunteer to donate an item (or items) of your choice.

*Please note that this is a staff event only. Families are not asked to attend.

The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming to Douglas &

We Need Volunteers!

Please use this link to sign up: CT Douglas Book Fair Volunteers

The PTO will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair starting Cyber Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 2 and need your help to make it a success! Throughout the week students will be able to visit and shop the Book Fair during their Library class time. Online shopping will be available - especially Cyber Monday! Watch for an email from your Room Parent on how to donate a book to your class and the Library. Get holiday shopping done early while supporting the Douglas PTO! Volunteers are needed during school hours to help students with their purchases, as well as outside of school hours to both set-up and break-down the Fair. To make the book fair inclusive to all, the PTO will be providing a book to every student!

Douglas Teacher Wish List on Amazon

Looking for ways to support our teachers this year? We have put together an updated Amazon Wish List that includes various items our teachers have wished for. If you would like to help make some of the wishes come true and support our teachers and students, please pick an item or two from the list to donate. The items will be shipped directly to the coordinator, who will then organize, label, and deliver them safely to the school. The list will remain active throughout the school year and we will continue to add new items as more wishes come in. There are wishes small and large, and you can also purchase gift cards in any amount that will be put toward purchasing additional items.

Check out our Wish Upon a Star wish list here

*Remember to use Amazon Smile* and Douglas will automatically earn a percentage of all qualifying sales!

Updates from the Health Office

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health urges residents (6 months and older) to get a flu shot this Fall. Influenza (flu) is a viral disease of the respiratory system. It can cause serious illness and causes more hospitalizations among young children than any other vaccine preventable illness. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has a checklist for families.

You can check it here: Flu Symptom Checklist

Feel free to call us at the Health Office with any questions.
