It's Time for the Douglas Directory!
The Douglas Directory provides valuable school and community information including class lists, family contact info, and even a list of 6th graders willing to provide babysitting services!
The directory will be available digitally to all members of our community with password-protected access through PowerSchool. For those who prefer the traditional printed and bound copy of the directory, you may still purchase copies for $6.00 each on the PTO website (http://douglasschoolpto.org/douglas-directory-2/). There will be NO paper order form sent home for directories this year, so please use this link to purchase copies and/or update your contact information.
Even if you do not plan to purchase a printed copy, please take the time to confirm the email address(es) you would like printed in the directory, let us know if your 6th grade student is interested in being a babysitting contact, and alert us to any special instructions about how you would like your family's information to be included. As a note, if you chose to “opt out” of the directory when you updated your preferences in PowerSchool this year, none of your family’s information will be included in this year’s directory. Changes can not be made once the directory has been finalized for printing. Contact Ashley Cook (arwcook@gmail.com) with any directory updates or questions.
The deadline for updating your information and/or purchasing printed copies of the Directory is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd. We will only be printing the number of copies that are ordered by this deadline.
Douglas Back to School Night: Tuesday September 19th
Mark your calendars for Tuesday September 19th from 6pm-8pm for the Douglas Back to School Night. This will be an opportunity for parents to meet your child's teacher, see the classroom, and find out what your child will be learning this year. It’s also a chance to meet our new principal, Mr. Wolpe!
This is an adult only event. This night is also a great time to get that CORI completed so you can volunteer at school. Bring your ID and stop by the PTO table to get that done.
Walk for Peace: Wednesday September 20th
The annual Douglas Walk for Peace is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th. This event is a classic Douglas tradition and is a time when students walk in the name of peace over the boardwalk and enter the neighborhood of Indian Village via Agawam. They do a short loop and come back to the school. During this time they are paired with their book buddy, an older (or younger) student they will work with at times throughout the year. An email will be sent with an electronic Permission Slip for the event. Please watch your email so that your child(ren) may participate!

Thank You from the PTO
We are so grateful to Douglas Mom, Michelle Kenney at The Lighter Home for her amazing organizing skills in getting the PTO ready for all of this year’s events! Our supplies were all over the place and she got us fit into two storage cabinets with room to spare. If you’re looking to get a space in your home organized, she’s the one to call!
Thank you to Cucurbit Farm for their donation of the potted flowers in front of the school!
