Upcoming Event Highlights
Multicultural Festival: THIS FRIDAY, March 6th
Our PTO is excited to announce this year’s Multicultural Festival will be held on March 6th from 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Cherry Creek Academy. This is an annual school event that honors and celebrates the diversity and inclusion that makes CCA so special. Throughout our school we have tables set-up in our classrooms that represent many different countries. At each table we will share food, artifacts, and music. This event is a hands-on way for all students and families to learn more about the countries that make-up our CCA community. In addition to the tables, we also have performances that celebrate the dance and traditions from many different countries. It is an amazing night that culminates with a “March of the flags,” that visually shares the diversity of our CCA community. 

Our Multicultural Festival also provides our community with wonderful volunteer opportunities! Come and share your heritage!

We have 14 amazing countries represented so far: Ireland, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Lebanon/Syria, Tajikistan, India , Austria- Europe, Mongolia, Poland
Russia, China, South Korea, Australia, Pakistan/Asia, Turkey, Ghana, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Middle School Pi Day: Friday, March 13th
Our middle school students will be celebrating Pi Day on Friday, March 13, 2020, as an annual celebration for CCA middle school students.

We are looking for volunteers to make this event a success. Even though this is a middle school event, elementary school parents are welcome to volunteer and/or bring in pies.

Talent Show:
Friday, April 24th
CCA is proud to announce another annual event celebrating the awesome talents of our students: CCA's Got Talent ! Our Talent show will be on Friday, April 24th from 5:30 - 8:30 pm in our gym.

If your child(ren) is/are interested in being part of the CCA Talent Show, please fill out the Audition Form .

Due to the large amount of interest we are anticipating, all acts must go through an audition process during the week of March 23rd with a judging panel who will use a rubric to select 15 -20 performers for CCA’s 2020 Talent Show. You can view the rubric here . Please note that performances may not exceed 4 minutes.

We are so excited to see what wonderful and amazing talents we have here at CCA! 
Fun Run:
Friday, May 1st
Please join us for our “CCA Flying Eagles” Fun run on Friday May 1st!

In the spirit of fun, health, and lots of cheering from others, including our returning coordinators from Boosterthon, students will run laps on the CCA field. Our goal is to raise over $25,000. Proceeds from this year’s fun run will go toward risers, a backdrop and  improvements to  our stage that will enable our g ymnasium to also serve as an auditorium for school performances, festivals, assemblies, etc.

Support the CCA Middle School Band
Help support and grow our new band program! For only $20.00, you'll have access to discounts to over 15 different participating businesses in the Cherry Creek Academy area through March 15th 2021! Retailers like Qdoba, Culvers, Jersey Mike's, Jimano's pizzeria, Sonic, Anthony's pizza Dickey's BBQ pit, Rocky mountain Chocolate Factory, Baker's way, Cold Stone Creamery, and more are all offering up to 50% off certain menu items with purchase of CCA's Middle school band discount cards. Cards can be purchased from Mr. White , but the cards are going fast! Cash only please.
February Caring Community
Caring Community is a school wide program that honors students who demonstrate one of CCA's eight character traits: leadership, responsibility, respect, loyalty, integrity, humility, diligence and compassion . 

Bi-monthly, a name from each grade level is drawn for the monthly Caring Community winners. Free dress and a prize is awarded to these students.

February's Winners are Izabel D., Tim D., Brooke H., Dominic H., Aaliyah O., Ashrith P., Judah P., Vedaant R., Alex S., Artem S., Jacob S., Noelle S., Sophia S., Viktoryia S., Eshan T., and Ethan Y.!

Adopt a Pilot Program at CCA
Our 5th graders have partnered with Southwest Airlines to bringing the  Adopt-A-Pilot program  to our school! Over this 5 week program, students explore a variety of aviation-themed activities related to science, geography, math, writing and other core subjects.
Noodles & Company Fundraiser: Success
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Noodles and Company last Monday to help support our students who will be attending the 8th Grade trip to Washington D.C. and New York later this school year!
PTO Events in March
In addition to the Multicultural Festival, our PTO will also have Pastries with Parents and the March PTO meeting. These events will be on March 13th, the 2nd Friday of the month, rather than the 3rd due to Spring Break. Please remember that Pastries with Parents requires and RSVP and students must be supervised by a parent or guardian in order to attend.

Musical Theater Club Coming to CCA
Musical Theater Workshop will be on Thursdays after school beginning on Thursday, March 26th! All 2nd - 5th graders with any level of experience are welcome! Throughout this course students will be working as an ensemble to create dance routines and learn the basic to moderate dance and vocal skills necessary for musical theatre. Pennies for Patients:
Student Council Fundraiser
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients program is working with thousands of schools across the country to raise funds for blood cancer research and patient support services. Cherry Creek Academy has partnered with LLS from today, March 2nd through Friday, March 13th to take on the mission of ending cancer once and for all by raising a schoolwide goal of $4,000! 

Each classroom will have it's own donation page that will be in the Teacher Newsletters and on our CCA website . If each classroom raises just $182, we will exceed our school wide goal and earn a free dress day for the entire school.

Students can also set up a personal page for collections. Donations collected on our students' personal pages will apply to both individual student and classroom totals. Students can earn individual prizes for raising money and prizes will also be given to the classes that raise the most money! The class that raises the most will earn a catered lunch from Olive Garden!
Annual Board Election
The 2020 CCA Board Election will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 and will end on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

There are three open positions on the Board for the 2020 Election. The term for each Board position is three years.

Nomination packets will be available Monday, March 30, 2020.

In order to better understand the roles and responsibilities of Board candidates please review the Candidate Eligibility Requirements listed below:

  • Potential candidates must attend a minimum of two (2) regular CCA Board meetings during the nine (9) months prior to the April Board meeting.
  • Potential candidates must interview with at least one (1) current Board member prior to the nomination form submittal deadline.
  • Potential candidates must agree to complete all required "Board modules" if elected. They must also agree to abide by the Code of Conduct, Duty of Care and Loyalty and Conflict of Interests policies.
  • Please find these documents here. 
  • Potential candidates must agree to abide by the CCA Non-Negotiables.
  • CCA staff members and spouses of CCA staff members are not allowed to run for the CCA Board.
  • Only one parent or legal guardian per family may serve on the CCA Board at the same time.
  • In order to be eligible to run for the CCA Board, candidates must have at least one student who is returning to CCA for the 2020-21 school year.
  • In order to be eligible to run for the CCA Board, candidates must have completed and have documented at least 50% of their annual volunteer hours by the time of nomination. The District P.A.S.S. (Partnerships for Academically Successful Students) is comprised of parents, Cherry Creek teachers and administrators, and community members. P.A.S.S. supports the district's goal of Inclusive Excellence and is a critical component of systemic equity transformation. P.A.S.S. at the district level, is led by the Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence and supported by the P.A.S.S. Steering Committee, and serves the purpose of engaging community members in meaningful and effective partnerships that lead to positive outcomes for all students, but more specifically, students of color. P.A.S.S. is a structure that fosters the intentional building of relationships between the school and the parent communities in an effort to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. P.A.S.S. also gives parents and guardians of students of color voice and direct access to administration.

Your Art Month Show at the Curis Arts and Humanities Center
Visit the Youth Art Month Show at the Curtis Center between February 29th and March 28, 2020.  Many CCA student artists will be featured.
A Great Deal from the National Martial Arts Academy for CCA Students
Members from The National Martial Arts Academy in Aurora will be performing the Lion Dance at this year's Multicultural Festival. They will also be offering our students a free 2 week trial at their studio.

In addition, if students sign up for classes after the 2 week trial ends, Master Silva , will donate the $59 sign up fee back to our CCA PTO!
