Our middle school students will be celebrating Pi Day on Friday, March 13th as an annual celebration for CCA middle school students.
We are looking for volunteers to make this event a success.
Even though this is a middle school event, elementary school parents are welcome to volunteer and/or bring in pies.

Spring Running Club: Coming Soon
|
For the first time, CCA athletics will be offering a spring running program that coincides with our Cross Country program to improve fitness and act as a stepping stone for those who want to continue to grow from fall cross country or those new to cross country who are interested in competing during our fall season.
Our Cross Country coaches Mr. Nolen, Mrs. Nistal and Mrs. MacFarland will create a differentiated program in which runners will train three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays) from 3:40-4:30 starting Monday, March 23rd and ending with the capstone event, a 5K associated with the
Colfax Marathon on Saturday, May 16th.
Registration for Spring Running Club is $50 and does NOT include the $25 registration fee for those interested in the 5K.

CCA's Got Talent
! Our Talent show will be on Friday, April 24th from 5:30 - 8:30 pm in our gym.
If your child(ren) is/are interested in being part of the CCA Talent Show, please fill out the

Due to the large amount of interest we are anticipating, all acts must go through an audition process during the week of March 23rd with a judging panel who will use a rubric to select 15 -20 performers for CCA’s 2020 Talent Show. You can view the rubric

In the spirit of fun, health, and lots of cheering from others, including our returning coordinators from Boosterthon, students will run laps on the CCA field. Our goal is to raise over $25,000. Proceeds from this year’s fun run will go toward risers, a backdrop and
improvements to
our stage that will enable
our g
ymnasium to also serve as an auditorium for school performances, festivals, assemblies, etc.

Multicultural Festival: HUGE SUCCESS
|
|
Thank you to our amazing CCA Community, parents, students, teachers & staff, who helped make this year's Multicultural Festival so incredible! It was awesome to see the diversity of our school celebrated and honored!
|
|
This week our library was transformed into the CCA Reading Cafe! Students sampled a variety of books during a fun spin on a menu "tasting" & received a 5 star experience!
In addition to the Cafe, our library also featured a great Dr. Seuss display in honor of his birthday on March 2nd. Kindergartners celebrated the day with special guest readers who read their favorite Dr. Seuss books while they enjoyed fun snacks including Cat in the Hat Kabobs and One Fish Two Fish themed Jello cups.
Thank you again to our amazing staff and volunteers who helped organize these fun and educational events.

Champions: Spring Break Child Care
|
Are you looking for child care over Spring Break? Champions at CCA has exciting activities planned to rejoice in the fun of Spring, culminating in a trip to the Denver Zoo! They also have extended hours this break, and will be operating from 7a-5p.
Join Champions over Spring Break for fun themed days with dress up opportunities each day:
3/16 Bloom & Grow - Students will learn about flowers and plants, as well as what it takes for something to grow.
The Dress Up Theme will be Floral.
3/17 Wild Side- Students will learn about habitats and how animals are able to survive all over the world.
The Dress Up Theme will be Animals.
3/18 Cool in the Shade - Students will learn about different types of trees and leaves.
The Dress Up Theme will be Camo Prints.
3/19 Bugging Out - Students will learn about the creepy crawlies that are out and about, from butterflies to spiders.
The Dress Up Theme will be Crazy Hair Day.
3/20 Zoo Trip - Students will travel to the Denver Zoo to see the beautiful animals live and in person!
The Dress Up Theme will be Green Day.

Musical Theater Club Coming to CCA
|
Musical Theater Workshop will be on Thursdays after school beginning on Thursday, March 26th! All 2nd - 5th graders with any level of experience are welcome! Throughout this course students will be working as an ensemble to create dance routines and learn the basic to moderate dance and vocal skills necessary for musical theatre. Pennies for Patients:
Student Council Fundraiser
|
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients program is working with thousands of schools across the country to raise funds for blood cancer research and patient support services.
Cherry Creek Academy has partnered with LLS
from today,
March 2nd through Friday, March 13th
to take on the mission of ending cancer once and for all by raising a schoolwide goal of $4,000!
Each classroom has it's own donation page that can be found in our Teacher Newsletters and on our
CCA website
.
If each classroom raises just $182, we will exceed our school wide goal and earn a free dress day for the entire school.
Students can also set up a personal page for collections. Donations collected on our students' personal pages will apply to both individual student and classroom totals. Students can earn individual prizes for raising money and prizes will also be given to the classes that raise the most money! The class that raises the most will earn a catered lunch from Olive Garden!

The 2020 CCA Board Election will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 and will end on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
There are three open positions on the Board for the 2020 Election. The term for each Board position is three years.
Nomination packets will be available Monday, March 30, 2020.
In order to better understand the roles and responsibilities of Board candidates please review the Candidate Eligibility Requirements listed below:
- Potential candidates must attend a minimum of two (2) regular CCA Board meetings during the nine (9) months prior to the April Board meeting.
- Potential candidates must interview with at least one (1) current Board member prior to the nomination form submittal deadline.
- Potential candidates must agree to complete all required "Board modules" if elected. They must also agree to abide by the Code of Conduct, Duty of Care and Loyalty and Conflict of Interests policies.
- Please find these documents here.
- Potential candidates must agree to abide by the CCA Non-Negotiables.
- CCA staff members and spouses of CCA staff members are not allowed to run for the CCA Board.
- Only one parent or legal guardian per family may serve on the CCA Board at the same time.
- In order to be eligible to run for the CCA Board, candidates must have at least one student who is returning to CCA for the 2020-21 school year.
- In order to be eligible to run for the CCA Board, candidates must have completed and have documented at least 50% of their annual volunteer hours by the time of nomination. CCSD P.A.S.S. Meeting : March 25th

The District P.A.S.S. (Partnerships for Academically Successful Students) is comprised of parents, Cherry Creek teachers and administrators, and community members. P.A.S.S. supports the district's goal of Inclusive Excellence and is a critical component of systemic equity transformation. P.A.S.S. at the district level, is led by the Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence and supported by the P.A.S.S. Steering Committee, and serves the purpose of engaging community members in meaningful and effective partnerships that lead to positive outcomes for all students, but more specifically, students of color. P.A.S.S. is a structure that fosters the intentional building of relationships between the school and the parent communities in an effort to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. P.A.S.S. also gives parents and guardians of students of color voice and direct access to administration.
