Congratulations Maddie M.
|
Last week we recieved confirmation that Madison M., a CCA 8th grader is being recognized by CCSD as a "student who demonstrates a passion for our military veterans and/or exhibits a strong conviction to military service. Mrs. Giroue nominated Maddie stating, "Madison M. wants to follow in her father's footsteps and join the United States Navy when she becomes an adult..She is a constant supporter of the U.S. Military and her country and actively seeks out opportunities to practice her leadership skills including holding the position of Student Council President. She is prepared and ready at a moment's notice to offer aid, encouragement, and guidance (all skills that will take her far in the military."
As a nominee, Maddie will be able to attend the Center for American Values in Pueblo, where she and others will be honored at a luncheon.

Social Emotional Learning
|
Currently our students are talking through identifying and managing emotions in their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons. The language that Second Step, our SEL curriculum uses is "comfortable" (happy, calm, interested, etc) vs. "uncomfortable" (sad, angry, frustrated, embarrassed, etc) feelings. We talk about how uncomfortable feelings are ok to have, but that people wouldn't want to stay in those feelings forever. If you have questions about our SEL curriculum or how we impliment it at CCA, please email Ms. Yamauchi at
kyamauchi@cherrycreekacademy.org

Please remember to log your volunteer hours regularly. This year we are giving a volunteer report at each board meeting that includes data about how many volunteers we have, the services they are performing, and how many hours we have accumulated as a community. It is important that all volunteer hours are logged, even after a family completes their required hours (20 hours for single parent homes and 40 hours for two parent households).
