On Thursday, November 14th CCA will be teaming up with Speed Stack USA and World Speed Stack Association. This will be allowing our own students at CCA to cooperatively stack in an attempt to beat the world record, and set a new record of 635,000+ stackers from around the world! We will have live feeds throughout the day so that students can see other stackers from around the world as well. Speed Stacking works on not only eye hand coordination, but bilateral cognitive abilities too. This activity can help students with any style of learning abilities.
Ms.Rutz will be setting up a handful of tables in the lobby on this day to allow students to upstack, down stack and cycle stack before heading to recess. This will ensure that each student (and staff) at CCA get the opportunity to be apart of the attempt at the world record.

Congratulations to Mr. Geltman, CCA's GT Teacher, who was awarded $1,000 from CCSD Grant Foundation for his new program idea, "Schoolhouse Rock: By Students, For Students."
In "Schoolhouse Rock," CCA Students will explore the hands-on, creative experience of making music on guitars and basses, and create their own “Schoolhouse Rock” stzyle songs based on classroom content and emotional expression. Through this process, they personalize their educational experience in dynamic and memorable ways. The creation of handmade pop music helps students develop an array of interpersonal and creative skills. At its best, the experience is a unique mix of immediacy, camaraderie, and innovative collaborative thinking. This program will introduce our students to guitar- and bass-playing, and inspire them to make songs about historical figures, math concepts, creative writing, and a host of other classroom concepts.

A special congratulations to Cassie Wagner, Student Council Leadership and Reading Aide, who lead CCA in fundraising for the Leukemia Lumphoma Society last year with the Pennies 4 Patients Fundraiser. CCA was awarded one of the Top Fundraising School awards for 2019. As a cancer survivor, Cassie shares her passion by leading our community to raise funds for cancer research. Her strength and courage to continue to fight for others is one of the things that makes Mrs. Wagner so incredibly special.

On Tuesday, December 3rd, CCA 8th Graders will take a 45 minute tour of the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC). They will learn about job opportunities in manufacturing, health and wellness, construction, culinary, hospitality and tourism, auto technology, aviation mechanics, business services, IT, and STEAM. Plus, they will get some information about how to prepare for these courses in their 9th grade course selection.
The CCIC is one of the few schools in the state of Colorado that offers hands-on training in multiple pathways for career and college readiness. In every class offered at the CCIC, there is an accompanying industry level certification that, for the first time, students in high school have the opportunity to earn. This campus provides a safe environment to put on the shoes of a business person, auto technician, construction worker, health care professional, and many other real world careers. For more information on the CCIC, please click

Giving our wonderful teachers, staff, and admin a basketful of goodies around Thanksgiving has been a longtime tradition of the CCA PTO. They need your help to fill the baskets and show your appreciation for all the time they give to students!
The CCA PTO will be assembling the baskets, and they're asking that all CCA families help in purchasing the items needed to fill them. For ease of purchasing, they have created an
Amazon Wishlist to purchase from!
The added bonus is that you can shop through CCA's Amazon Smile link and a proceeds will also go to our PTO.
Items will ship to the home of Bailey (Ian) Foley, PTO Secretary, who is then bringing items to the school for assembly.
You may also purchase items outside of Amazon, but please check the
wishlist
to ensure there is still a need. If you would prefer not to have items shipped, students can also bring items with them to school by Tuesday, November 19th.
The PTO will be assembling and distributing the baskets on Friday, November 22nd. If you have any questions, please contact Natalie or Shaden, the PTO VPs of Hospitality at
[email protected]
.
Please note that parents receive one volunteer hour per $20 spent, as long as it doesn't exceed 1/2 of total yearly hours, per the CCA volunteer policy.
Thank you for all of your support!

The first Eagle Honors Assemblies have been rescheduled from November 13th to November 14th.
The Kindergarten - 4th grade assembly will take place between 8:15 and 9:30 a.m. The 5th - 8th grade assembly will be from 9:45 - 11:00 a.m. At the Eagle Honor assembly some of our students are recognized for exemplifying an Eagle Honor character trait of Leadership, Responsibility, Respect, Loyalty, Integrity, Humility, Diligence and/or Compassion. Students receive a certificate from their teacher. We reminded parents that our focus for the Eagle Honor recognition is on our students. We want our students to be notified when they received the award at the award ceremony and not before. We want every student fully engaged in the event and not knowing if they are getting an award causes more to be attentive and focused on the event and in celebrating their peers and their own accomplishments. Although parents are not notified if their child will receive a certificate, all parents are invited to attend every Eagle Honor assembly. When a student receives a Golden Eagle it is because they have in previous years received recognition for all 8 character traits. When a Golden Eagle is going to be awarded, parents are notified.

Please remember to log your volunteer hours regularly. This year we are giving a volunteer report at each board meeting that includes data about how many volunteers we have, the services they are performing, and how many hours we have accumulated as a community. It is important that all volunteer hours are logged, even after a family completes their required hours (20 hours for single parent homes and 40 hours for two parent households).
If you have any questions about volunteering at CCA, please email the Volunteer Coordinator at
[email protected]
. For volunteer account information, or to make changes to your volunteer account, please email Chelsea Anderson, CCA's Communications Director, at
