Peer Helpers at CCA
Peer Helpers, led by the awesome  Ms. Yamauchi , CCA's Student Support Specialist, are an amazing group of middle school students who focus on building a sense of community and kindness throughout our school.

Our Peer Helpers work with their peers as well as younger students through activities like peer conferencing and meeting one on one with students who need a peer to talk to. Our Peer Helpers have helped solve conflicts at recess, problems between friends, and have buddied up with and checked in on younger students who were going through a hard time.

Peer Helpers also have "  Lunch Bunches. "  Lunch Bunches  are Peer Helper Student run groups for middle schoolers that occur once each week.   Lunch Bunches  are organized by grade levels and serve to provide students with a place to make new friends and build positive peer relationships for the Cherry Creek Academy middle school community. All middle school students are welcome and encouraged to join their  Lunch Bunch  group!

All middle school students are welcome to join Peer Helpers and can come to a weekly meeting on Thursday mornings from 7:15-7:50 a.m. or Friday afternoons from 3:35-4:30 p.m. in the Innovation Space. Students should choose ONE weekly meeting to attend. To join Peer Helpers, students can simply attend a meeting! You can visit the  Peer Helper Website  or email  Ms. Yamauchi at for more information.
Eagles Honors
Later this month, on November 13, 2019 Eagle Honor assemblies. The Kindergarten - 4th grade assembly will take place between 8:15 and 9:30 a.m. The 5th - 8th grade assembly will be from 9:45 - 11:00 a.m. At the Eagle Honor assembly some of our students are recognized for exemplifying an Eagle Honor character trait of Leadership, Responsibility, Respect, Loyalty, Integrity, Humility, Diligence and/or Compassion. Students receive a certificate from their teacher. We reminded parents that our focus for the Eagle Honor recognition is on our students. We want our students to be notified when they received the award at the award ceremony and not before. We want every student fully engaged in the event and not knowing if they are getting an award causes more to be attentive and focused on the event and in celebrating their peers and their own accomplishments. Although parents are not notified if their child will receive a certificate, all parents are invited to attend every Eagle Honor assembly. When a student receives a Golden Eagle it is because they have in previous years received recognition for all 8 character traits. When a Golden Eagle is going to be awarded, parents are notified.

Volunteer Information
Please remember to log your volunteer hours regularly. This year we are giving a volunteer report at each board meeting that includes data about how many volunteers we have, the services they are performing, and how many hours we have accumulated as a community. It is important that all volunteer hours are logged, even after a family completes their required hours (20 hours for single parent homes and 40 hours for two parent households).

If you have any questions about volunteering at CCA, please email the Volunteer Coordinator at  . For volunteer account information, or to make changes to your volunteer account, please email Chelsea Anderson, CCA's Communications Director, at .
