Snowman Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday break. It is hard to believe that the school year is already half over. The 2nd quarter ends next Friday, January 14th. There will be no school for students on Monday January 17th and Tuesday January 18th. These are days off with no virtual learning expectations. 2nd quarter report cards will be emailed to families on Monday, January 24th.

As we navigate this ever evolving pandemic, we ask for your help with a few things.

  • If your child has any COVID like symptoms, please contact Ms. Thompson, our school nurse, for further instructions.

  • If your child is absent from school for any reason, please fill out the Absence Form so we can follow up with you as needed. Please fill this out the morning they are absent (or prior to their absence, if known). No need to fill it out for late arrivals (i.e. morning dentist appointments). No need to fill out this absence form if your child has been quarantined and is attending remotely.

  • Ensure that your child has a properly fitted mask that covers their mouth and nose without frequently slipping down. Keep an extra mask or two in your child's backpack.

  • Evaluate the safety of your child's activities and play dates outside of school especially those where masks are not worn.

  • Make sure that your child has a jacket as we will continue to eat outside except on very cold or rainy days.

  • Place a pair of headphones or earbuds in your child's backpack for times when teachers may be out of school and teaching through Zoom.

  • Talk to your child about the importance of hand washing maintaining physical distance when possible.

The CDC has updated guidance concerning quarantine and exposure. We will continue to follow the requirements set forth in the Strong Schools NC Toolkit. We will continue to update the COVID dashboard with new cases each week. If you have questions about any of our health and safety protocols, please contact Ms. Pieper.

Welcome back and thank you for continuing to help us navigate this pandemic.

Show your School Spirit!

This month's school spirit days:

  • Friday, January 14th - "Anything But a Backpack Day" - Bring your school books and materials in anything other than a backpack on this day. Examples include: ice cooler, baby carriage, sled, wagon just to name a few. Make sure what is used is labeled with the student's name on it and can be easily carried and maneuvered by the student themself.

  • Wednesday, January 26th - "SEL Color Day" - Each SEL buddy group chose a color to represent their group. Students and staff will wear clothing matching the color of their buddy group.
