The East School PTO is excited to launch our Annual Appeal this week! Keep an eye out for information coming home in your Explorers' backpack.

What is the Annual Appeal? The Annual Appeal is the East School PTO's primary fundraiser, which funds all of the curriculum enrichment provided to East Explorers throughout the school year, student programming like the Kindness Club and Get Smart About Art, Staff Appreciation and Teacher Grants, as well as Community Events, bringing our Explorers and Caregivers together outside of the classroom. Your contribution will directly benefit your child's elementary curriculum and overall experience.

OUR GOAL IS 100% PARTICIPATION! Big or small - all donations make a difference and are needed! In order to cover the budgeted PTO spend/student, the suggested donation amount is $160 per student for the 2025-26 school year. Donations can be made via check (utilizing the red envelope your Explorer will bring home in their backpacks), PayPal, or on our website at https://www.east-pto.com/donate.

The East School PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which means your charitable donations are tax-deductible! Many companies also offer corporate matching, allowing you to double the impact of your contribution. Please consider checking if your employer participates in a matching program—it’s an easy way to make an even bigger difference for our students!

Did you know that up until this year, East Elementary has been the only elementary school in Hingham offering a Makerspace program? Started eight years ago with PTO seed funding, Makerspace continues to thrive today.

Led by Mrs. Cina and Mrs. Juaregui, Makerspace gives students a hands-on way to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). The program fosters creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving through engaging challenges at every grade level — from Lego builds and Snap Circuits to balloon-powered cars.

Students love the chance to collaborate, experiment, and learn in this unique program that sets East apart. The PTO is excited to continue supporting Makerspace and will share project highlights throughout the year so families can see the amazing work happening in our school.

5th Grade Concession Stand Fundraiser - THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who purchased concessions at Carlson or Lynch Field during East 5th Grade’s Concession Stand Fundraiser. These hard-working students kept our soccer and flag football players fueled while raising money for their yearbook, class trip to TreeTop Adventures, class gift, culmination ceremony, and more. They appreciate the support of the community to help them celebrate their final year at East!

Social Emotional Highlight

Join us on October 8th for an overview of social-emotional learning (SEL) at East and supports available to your student here at East! We'll be highlighting the ways your student learns about social-emotional awareness and strategies, who are your go-to people for social-emotional troubles or needs, and hear about ways families can bridge the learning happening here at school to home (or how to evaluate and address social-emotional needs at home or in the community).

Principal Hawes and Fawn Cronin (East Elementary parent and executive function coach) will lead this overview and provide parents an opportunity to share or ask questions. We hope to see you there!
