Upcoming Events
The 2019 Twin Counties Education & Business Leaders' Summit will take place on Thursday, August 1 from 8-10am, at Nash Community College in Rocky Mount, NC. The guest speaker for the event will be North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Tony Copeland.

This event will bring together industry leaders, educators, government officials, and community-base organizations to collaborate resources to build a strong local talent pipeline. It will build the local talent pipeline by growing workforce awareness, ensuring relevant workforce skills, and strengthening relationships with business and industry. Join us for this great event!

Newsworthy Projects in the Twin Counties
CSX - Carolina Connector
Rocky Mount, NC is the ideal site for CSX's newest intermodal facility which will provide industries with convenient access to rail, helping connect their products to consumers nationwide and internationally.

The Carolina Connector is an innovative partnership between the North Carolina Department of Transportation and CSX that will bring continued growth for not only the Twin Counties but Eastern North Carolina.

Shippers will benefit from Rocky Mount's strategic location on the CSX mainline and proximity to the Triangle region's major consumer market.

Operations at the Carolina Connector terminal are expected to begin in late 2020.



NC DMV
The Carolinas Gateway Partnership and the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce are excited that Rocky Mount has been selected as the new location for the NC Division of Motor Vehicles headquarters. The division is anticipating to relocate by Fall 2020.

Corning
Corning, a New York-based world-leading innovator in material science but mainly known for glass, is building a distribution center in Edgecombe County. The Corning project is an approximately $87 million investment and approximately 149 jobs are going to be created.

The Corning site is under construction right now and the Corning facility's supporting structure is already beginning to take shape (as shown in the pictures). Corning wants to be in operation in Edgecombe County by the first quarter or 2020.

Triangle Tire
Triangle Tire Co. is a Chinese-based tire company that manufactures a range of tires for vehicles from passenger cars to construction equipment and tires fit for special purposes.

The company will invest $580 million to build two plants in Edgecombe County, and create 800 new jobs. This project will bring a positive economic impact to Edgecombe County and the region with this investment.

Workforce Development
RAMP EAST - Regional Advanced Manufacturing Pipeline for Eastern NC
RAMP East, Regional Advanced Manufacturing Pipeline for Eastern NC, is a regional workforce development partnership designed to connect job seekers to the necessary training and resources to be ready for the current jobs available in the region and the new jobs that will coming in the next 18 to 24 months.

This regional partnership is made up of economic development organizations, workforce development boards, community colleges, state and local government agencies, and community-base organizations. Stay tuned for more information!

RAMP East website is under construction! Stay tuned as we launch the website on July 31st.
NC Simulation Station
The Upper Coastal Plains Council of Governments and the Turning Point Workforce Development Board are creating a innovative way to connect students with jobs of today and tomorrow!

The NC Simulation Station is a regional partnership that plans to use electronic software games to help in school and out of school youth explore different career occupations and their work environments through online simulations.
