The Economic Development Perspective

Work Begins on Argos Manufacturing Center

After several years of planning sessions, negotiations, and consensus building, the Argos Manufacturing Center is under construction. Site grading began this month and foundation work will start as early as next week. The building is specifically designed to attract businesses looking to expand quickly. It will be 50,000 sq. ft., expandable to 300,000 sq. ft., and the interior is customizable depending on the needs of the future tenant. The building (shell) will be completed by spring 2018, allowing MCEDC to begin marketing it to new businesses.
This project has been made possible thanks to the support of many partners. The Argos Council, MCEDC Board, RDA, and Lake City Bank have come together to finance this truly innovative economic development initiative. MCEDC is serving as the building developer, making this the first manufacturing center in the state constructed without a private developer. Others involved in the planning and funding include the Marshall County Commissioners, Marshall County Council, NIPSCO, IMPA, Norfolk Southern, and Marshall County Community Foundation. We look forward to welcoming a new business to Argos very soon thanks to the cooperation and vision of our community in launching this project.
