The Big Idea

Your Week Ahead

September is here, and it brings with it plenty of ways for members to leverage their Daytona Regional Chamber membership. Take a few minutes to register for upcoming events so you won't miss out on opportunities to network, to learn more about local and state political races, and to have fun on the golf course.

We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2024 Annual Awards. Join us in sharing congratulatory wishes with these deserving members and mark your calendars for the October 29 Annual Awards Luncheon. Individual tickets and sponsorships are now available.

In the Resources to Bookmark section, make sure to carefully review the changes coming October 1 that impact Florida's Child Care Tax Credit. The Florida Chamber of Commerce has compiled a document that's meant to guide employers through these important changes.

The final strategic planning question posed asks members to share their biggest challenge in running a business in Volusia County. Your answers will assist in our planning process so that the Daytona Regional Chamber evolves to continually meet the needs of the membership. Thank you, in advance, for taking a few minutes to answer this important question.

We hope that you have a productive first few days of September. Enjoy this short, but busy week!

A Guide for Employers: Florida's Childcare Tax Credit

Starting during the 2024 taxable year, Florida's childcare tax credit provides businesses with the potential for significant tax savings while supporting employees' childcare needs.

This move aims to alleviate the financial burden of childcare through employer-supported care, enabling more parents to participate fully in the workforce. This tax credit offers a huge opportunity to support the workforce of today and tomorrow. Childcare issues are the #1 reason why parents leave their jobs.

The Florida Department of Revenue will begin accepting applications on October 1, 2024. Applications will apply retroactively for childcare expenses incurred by the employer based on their taxable year. In the meantime, the Department of Revenue, which is charged with administering the program, will be releasing additional information and rules.
