RideSmart2Daytona:

Stay Safe with Ride Smart

Florida at Bike Week 2025

By Amy Elmore, Strategic Safety and Innovation Manager with EXP

Ride Smart Florida welcomes you to Daytona Bike Week 2025, bringing essential motorcycle safety resources straight to the heart of the action. Our tent will be set up in front of J&P Cycles at Destination Daytona from February 28 - March 9, open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Whether you're rolling in solo, with friends, or part of a larger group, make sure to swing by and take

the Ride Smart Challenge for a chance to win amazing prizes! At Ride Smart Florida, we

understand that great rides start with choices. That’s why we’re promoting "RideSmart2Daytona"— a reminder to ride sober, stay visible, ride responsibly, and wear your safety gear including a DOT‐compliant helmet.

What’s Happening at the Ride Smart Florida Tent:

  • Take the Ride Smart Challenge – Test your motorcycle safety knowledge and win exciting prizes!

  • Chat with Motorcycle Safety Experts – Have a riding‐related question or need advice? Our team of experts is here to help, offering insight into everything from proper riding techniques and Florida laws to safety gear.

  • Level Up Your Skills – Learn about free advanced rider training available throughout Florida.

  • Grab Free Safety Resources -Pick up helpful materials to keep or share with your fellow riders. We’ll have brochures, flyers, and other resources packed with vital information to enhance your safety and awareness.

Ride Smart Tips for Bike Week:

✔ Gear Up for Safety – Wear a DOT-compliant helmet, protective clothing, gloves, and sturdy footwear to reduce injury risk in a crash. Always dress for the ride ahead!

✔ Enhance Your Visibility – Bright-colored gear, reflective strips, and keeping your lights on help make you more noticeable, especially in heavy traffic or poor weather conditions. Stay seen, stay safe!

✔ Ride Defensively – Assume other drivers don’t see you. Avoid blind spots, anticipate sudden lane changes, and be ready for unexpected road hazards. Staying alert can save your life.

✔ Inspect Your Bike – Conduct a pre-ride safety check, including tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels, to ensure your motorcycle is in optimal condition before hitting the road.

✔ Stay Hydrated & Rested – Florida’s heat and long rides can be draining. Drink plenty of water and take breaks to prevent fatigue. Staying well-rested helps you remain sharp and focused.

✔ Watch for Road Hazards – Be mindful of sand, gravel, potholes, and other road conditions that can be especially dangerous for motorcycles. Always scan ahead and adjust your riding accordingly.

✔ Never Ride Impaired – Alcohol and drugs impair reaction time and judgment. Even a small amount can compromise your safety. If you plan to drink, arrange alternative transportation.

✔ Ride Responsibly – Follow traffic laws, stick to speed limits, and maintain predictable riding behavior. Lane splitting is illegal in Florida, and reckless riding endangers everyone. Set a good example and stay in control.

Make smart riding choices and don’t forget to stop by our tent to join the Ride Smart Challenge and

learn more about staying safe. Let’s work together to keep Daytona Bike Week 2025 safe, fun, and

unforgettable for all riders—see you at Destination Daytona!
