4th Annual Soft Skills Youth Summit

“I have volunteered as a mentor for the Soft Skills Youth Summit for the past four years. It continues to be an amazing event and gains more attendance from students every year. This event is so important to our community and the future of our workforce.

The summit emphasizes the critical importance of soft skills such as leadership, communication, punctuality, work ethic, organization and time management. These are skills that our youth need to learn and use to make them successful, as they transition into the workforce.

As a Human Resources professional and a mother, this event is very important to me. I enjoy being a mentor and table moderator, year after year, and using my ability to give back to the community. I wholeheartedly recommend the Soft Skills Youth Summit to all of our schools and any young individual looking to unlock their full potential in their personal and professional lives.”

Emergency Management Survey

Business Perspectives Needed Regarding Flooding

Volusia County Emergency Management is in the process of updating the Local Mitigation Strategy Plan and the Floodplain Management Plan. Understanding historical flooding is a key component for creating successful plans. A requirement of each plan includes public participation. One segment that is lacking in participation is the business community. The survey is open until December 1, so please don't delay.
