MEMPHIS STATE OF EDUCATION REPORT 2024

Our team at Memphis Education Fund spent the entire summer visiting every part of Memphis and Shelby County sharing our 2024 Memphis State of Education Report and having community conversations with parents, guardians, teachers, community leaders, and other community members.

B.O.S.S. PROGRAM

The BOSS Program is a mentorship program that serves Memphis youth in grades 9th-12th, ages 14-18. The focus is youth who are in underserved communities that may need extra support navigating through life.


The objective is to provide holistic support for Memphis youth encouraging them to tap into their strengths and reach their fullest potential.


Participants will have the opportunity to receive a monthly stipend, community engagement, exposure, enhance social and emotional development as well as many other things! Also, participants will meet twice a week, after school, for 1.5 hours with a Youth Engagement Specialist for a mentoring session. 


The BOSS program does not have a GPA requirement, and those interested can apply through this link B.O.S.S. Application. Students will be contacted once their application is completed.

KEEPER OF THE DREAM

The National Civil Rights Museum is pleased to sponsor the Keeper of the Dream Award.


The Keeper of the Dream Award is a public recognition of selected youth in grades 6-12 that celebrates and recognizes the hard work and dedication of young people who take action and demonstrate commitment to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for others.


This year there will be two grade categories, and winners in grades 6-8 and grades 9-12 will be selected.

SENATE YOUTH PROGRAM


Qualifying high school juniors or seniors can apply to be selected to participate in the 2025 United States Senate Youth Program.

STRIDE PROGRAM

Great teachers are critical to our city’s future success. Stride is a free program that offers the support early career teachers need to thrive as educators in Memphis. In addition to social outings and fun opportunities to explore Memphis, Stride provides an environment of collaborative learning, peer networking, and professional development. By engaging teachers in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd years in the classroom, Stride helps retain our community’s most promising educators. Interested?
