City Awarded an Additional $1.6 Million in ARPA Funds

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County awarded the cities of Edwardsville and Bonner Springs $2.8 million in American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funding to split between the two entities. The Unified Government initially did not award either city with funding under the original allocation plan from the Commission's Standing Committee. Both Edwardsville Mayor Carolyn Caiharr and Bonner Springs Mayor Jeff Harrington advocated for their respective cities, citing their concern that the county money was not being dedicated county-wide.

The City of Edwardsville received approximately $686,000 of its own ARPA funding from the federal government in 2022. Funds from this resource must be dedicated prior to the end of 2024 to remain compliant with award guidelines.
