From Our Pastor

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

This Wednesday, March 5th, begins the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday.  Ash Wednesday Masses will be 9:00am and 12:00pm at Christ the King and 7:00pm at St. Margaret Mary.  Private confession will be available after each Mass.

The Lenten schedule and listing of events are included inside this bulletin.  Be sure to paste a copy on your refrigerator!

An important reminder:  Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics.

Fasting:  The norms on fasting are obligatory for Catholics from age 18 until age 59.  When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.

Abstinence:  The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Catholic Church from age 14 onwards for Ash Wednesday and ALL Fridays of Lent including Good Friday. Meat includes pork, beef, chicken, lamb. Substituting for meat, vegetable or macaroni dishes, and fish are commonly chosen for meals on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent.

May God bless you!

Fr. Gonyo
