Preparing to Care for Your Family
When illness, injury or hard times rear their ugly heads, families take care of each other. But when an older loved one’s health starts to decline, your family can face challenges you didn’t even know existed. The best way to approach caregiving is to be prepared for what lies ahead.

This month’s issue of “The Elder Law Minute” offers practical tips on providing the care your loved one needs, while also protecting yourself and your family from the emotional, physical and legal challenges of caregiving. If you or your clients need help preparing to care for a dying loved one, get in touch anytime.
MAY'S NEWS TO KNOW
3 Signs It's Time to Call an Elder Law Attorney
Sometimes it’s obvious when you need a lawyer. Like if you get a traffic ticket, or your preschooler accidentally shoplifts that value pack of chewing gum. It’s not as universally known when to call an elder law attorney, however. But there are clear moments when you’ll want one of us on the phone and at your side.
The Ultimate Family Caregiver's Guide
Caring for a dying loved one is a remarkable responsibility and the truest form of selflessness. It’s also far from easy. The physical and, of course, emotional sacrifices it demands of you can become overwhelming. Here, we offer you, the noble family caregiver, some tips on how to provide the best care for the person you’re losing, without losing yourself.

May is Older Americans Month , and we’re celebrating this year’s theme, Engage at Every Age, by recognizing that no one is ever too old to be active in body, mind and spirit. No one is ever too old to get their estate in order either. Celebrate the month by creating or updating your own plan — it’ll be one less thing to worry about, so that you can get back to engaging in the fun stuff.
Where in the World Is Ben?
On May 6, Ben raced in the J-Hawk Earlybird Sprint Triathlon in Whitewater, Wisconsin, as he prepares for the PATAGONMAN Extreme Triathlon in Patagonia this December. He beat his personal record by four minutes, landing in third place in his age group – not too bad for a guy turning 50 this year. Up next, Ben will be in Madison, Wisconsin, on June 10 for a Half Ironman Distance Race (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run) sporting his new Generation Law branded triathlon race suit.
