Halloween Horrors: Estate Planning Edition If you’re sad about being stuck at home for Halloween, here’s a dose of creepiness to get you in the holiday spirit. We recently stumbled across this article about a woman who had her husband’s will tattooed on her back to make sure she got her fair share when the time came. The document included 500 words and took nearly a week to produce. We shudder to think about that many pinpricks, but at least she didn’t have to worry about misplacing the will in a filing cabinet.   PSA: If this story is giving you ideas, please keep in mind that we don’t offer wills via tattoo at this time (no clean needles lying around the office, anyway).

Public Health Emergency Ruling Extended Earlier this month, the federal government extended the public health emergency ruling under COVID until January 2021. So what does that mean for you? The emergency ruling could impact findings for Medicaid while it’s in effect (learn more about how the pandemic is affecting Medicaid rulings in this month’s blog). Meanwhile in Illinois, an order allowing remote notary and witnessing is still in effect during the crisis, which means that you can complete your estate planning without having to set foot in an office.
