The Eleven - June 2018

Greetings!

Welcome to The Eleven, my monthly newsletter that usually comes out on the 11th of each month. It's where I send word to friends and family about what I'm thinking and how I'm traversing this life. Hop off below at any time via the link below.

Like you I'm shaking my head at just how juvenile and incompetent things are on the national level. The current hot issue of immigrant children being separated from their parents is one more in a line of terrible decisions that I hope you are doing your best to resist. And talk about. I'm pretty sure that continuing to talk with one another about the important issues of the day is one way to make this world better. And thanks for taking any and all actions that you are taking.

Right now I'm currently working on things at the neighborhood level via Nextdoor. After watching a John Oliver segment about Crisis Pregnancy Centers I started a conversation about how to close the one nearest to me. I also learned that these places are teaching school kids abstinence-based sex ed in our local schools which really is deplorable and needs to be stopped.

OK, and now back to Summer. I hope yours is going well - here's a project I'm working on which is both fun and revolutionary and my schedule festival-wise for the Summer. Please consider coming to the Northwest String Summit*** - I think it would be fun to have a posse - it's about 30 minutes from Portland and the lineup is fantastic (see video at the end).

Making More Music

After years of attending PSGW I'm finally feeling the umph to organize an Oregon Guitar Camp. And, one in Maui, too. If you'd like to get alerts as these are organized (or better yet, help organize them with me :) Click here .

I'm convinced that playing music together is one of the best ways to change the world. I hardly ever feel as optimistic and moved as when music is involved. Join me!

July 19-22 - Northwest String Summit - I'd love company for this :) (I have tix) - I really think this is going to be a fun time this year. Many who would normally attend will be shaking their tushes off at the Gorge (Phish) - so, I anticipate a smaller crowd and I think the line up is spectacular. Come and camp with me!
July 25th - Come Sing with me at the Tiny Caravan Hotel on Alberta Street
Pickathon - August 3-5 (just East of Portland) - accessible, easy for families (undecided, but likely)
Beloved, August 10-13, SW of Corvalis - yes! Year 11 - how could I not? - I have tickets, come!
Singing Alive - August 24-27 (undecided, but very likely)
Burning Man - I am considering - seeking ticket and parking pass if you hear of anything...
