EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Lydia Dolan Assistant to the Associate Dean CLASS Academic Affairs

As Assistant to the Associate Dean in CLASS, Lydia Dolan plays a vital role in keeping the college’s operations running smoothly and efficiently. She manages office and classroom refresh projects, supports commencement and college-wide events, engages with student data and reporting, and coordinates class scheduling and space utilization across the college - all with a focus on collaboration and excellence.

Lydia is known for her initiative and ability to identify practical solutions that improve workflows and strengthen operations. From updating the guest parking request form and linking it to a shared class email account to enhancing the front desk computer setup and auditing classroom usage, her attention to detail ensures efficiency and continuity. A continuous learner, she expands her expertise through professional development in psychological safety and emotional intelligence, and she generously shares her knowledge, especially in Adobe Sign, to support colleagues and foster a positive, team-oriented environment.

In her nomination, a colleague wrote:

“Lydia exemplifies the qualities recognized by the Employee Spotlight through her dedication, initiative, and commitment to improving operations within CLASS. She consistently goes above and beyond to strengthen workflows, create a positive work environment, and support colleagues with care and professionalism.”

Thank you, Lydia, for your 5 years of service and the dedication, initiative, and collaborative spirit you bring to CLASS and the entire Cal Poly Pomona community!

Exploring Interest: Peer Grief Support Group for Faculty and Staff

Grief touches everyone, yet few workplaces offer a space to process loss together. Our campus is exploring the formation of an Employee Affinity Group: Peer Grief Support Group - a confidential and compassionate setting for faculty and staff to share experiences of loss and mutual support.

Facilitated by a certified grief support specialist with extensive experience leading grief groups, this peer-based space will focus on connection, reflection, and shared healing. Meetings may be held monthly during U-Hour.

If you are interested in participating or learning more, please contact Diana Saldana by emailing desaldana@cpp.edu or calling (909) 869-2209.
