What do you like most about your job?

"My favorite part of my job would definitely be the students! It is so incredibly rewarding to watch them succeed and grow during their time here at CPP. I truly enjoy being able to help and support them throughout their academic careers. Second, would be the wonderful faculty, staff and chair within the Civil Engineering department. They are such a supportive and fun group! Each of them make me feel truly appreciated and can always bring a smile to my face even when I am feeling overwhelmed in my heavy workload. Finally, the staff/techs in the College of Engineering- some of them have become my closest friends! It is such a blessing to come to work each day knowing that I am surrounded by such great colleagues!"

What do you like to do when you are not working?

"My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family! My husband and I have a 5 year old son, two silver lab puppies (3 months old) and 3 cats! We love inviting friends over for BBQ’s and spending time at our cabin up in Big Bear. We also enjoy traveling when we can. Hawaii is my absolute favorite place to be! My son and husband have recently started a vegetable garden in our backyard and my hobby has always been growing plumerias. I also enjoy wine tasting and cooking meals for my family."

What is a quick tip that you want the campus to know?

"In order to be successful in my position, I have learned the most important thing I can do is to be flexible with my schedule. I start my day with a plan but expecting that urgent things are going to come up and having the capacity to switch gears at a moment’s notice has been one of my most valuable skills. Multitasking is key in my position!"

Accessibility Layer Added to Campus Map

August 21 was National Senior Citizens Day

August 26 is Women's Equality Day

The campus map now includes an important ADA feature, an accessibility layer, that identifies the locations of elevators and power doors for campus buildings. This project involved a collaboration among the ADA Coordinator, IT, Disability Resource Center, and Spring 2022 IGE 1020H class and supports accessibility and inclusivity for all.

In 1988, President Reagan proclaimed this holiday to raise awareness about issues that affect senior citizens and their quality of life. With improved health care and more years of productivity, older people are reinforcing their roles as community leaders, and many older people are embarking on second careers!
