Director of Events & Special Projects

In her role as the Director of Events & Special Projects, Helen supports the division of University Advancement and the campus with many different events such as donor and alumni engagement, Fall Convocation and Commencement.


In her nomination, it was said that, “Helen’s commitment to excellence in how visitors and guests experience the University is truly outstanding. She is supremely detailed and organized and thinks about events from every dimension possible. Her communication skills and ability to anticipate challenges and respond with flexibility with innovative ideas is bar none. With the commencement season of celebrations upon us, she remains laser focused on honoring our students’ achievements and making guests feel welcome on campus. We are so fortunate to benefit from Helen’s leadership and service at CPP. "

"I enjoy taking the idea of an event and making it come to life. I always enjoy the event day when you can see all your hard work come together and showcase CPP."

What is a quick tip that you want the campus to know?


"Always have an A, B and C plan when planning events. This helps to produce flexibility, allows you to be prepared and invokes creativity."

What do you like to do when you are not working?


"I enjoy spending time with my family, playing games, exploring the outdoors, traveling and reading."

Being Thoughtful During Ramadan

April is Arab American Heritage Month. During this time, we celebrate Arab Americans throughout the past and present and recognize their invaluable contributions to our country. Explore and learn about Arab-American life and the contributions Arab Americans have made over time by visiting The Arab American National Museum virtual galleries.

April is Scottish American Heritage Month which highlights Scottish heritage and remembers the Scottish Americans who have had an impact on U.S. society. As early immigrants to the American colonies, the Scottish have an impressive list of contributions to American culture and made an indelible mark on American culture as inventors, artists, politicians, and more.

Tomorrow, April 21, is Eid al-Fitr, a special holiday for the nearly 2 billion Muslim people around the world, which marks the end of Ramadan. Learning With A Leader

Join us this summer as the Office of Academic Innovation hosts a summer conference welcoming faculty and staff from both Cal Poly Pomona and all interested faculty and staff from Southern California. This conference will consist of three tracks on Pathways to the Future: Exploring the Intersection of Learning, Work, and Community. The Office of Academic Innovation and the NSF INVEST grant will cover the registration costs for all Cal Poly Pomona faculty and staff with promo code “CPP2023”.

It’s time to start getting ready for this year's Giving Day, Cal Poly Pomona’s largest online fundraising campaign of the year and the 10th anniversary of this event!


Mark your calendars: CPP Giving Day will be taking place on April 19 – 20, 2023. Starting on Wednesday at 9 am and concluding on Thursday at 9 pm, this 36 hours will lead to 365 days of impact.

EODA/HR Operations is bringing back the Learning with a Leader series and is asking for your input. The purpose of this series is to give participants an opportunity to learn more about our fearless leaders on campus and their leadership philosophy.
