Please join us in congratulating our 2022 EDGE Leadership Development Program graduates!
24 hours of instruction, 12 cohort sessions, six LinkedIn Learning courses, two live presentations, role plays, self-study, one-on-one meetings, and extensive homework. This is just a snapshot of the hard work and determination the 2022 Excellence, Determination, Growth, and Evolution (EDGE) Leadership Development Program participants needed to successfully complete this program.

In her role for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Sabrina is the first point of contact for the office, contributes to the day-to-day operations, and serves as a resource to faculty and students. She assists students with any questions or concerns, and supports both the Department Chair and the various committees within the department.
In her nomination, it was said that "Sabrina always goes above and beyond to help everyone. She is the first point of contact for people who come into our office. She helps students, faculty, staff, parents, and anyone else who walks in the door. She is knowledgeable about all the different offices and services on our campus and makes sure people are sent to the right place to get help."

Makers Studio and iLab
Wednesday December 7
Noon - 12:45 p.m.
Faculty Director, Kenneth Lamb, and Administrative Coordinator, Jesus Brandon Bermudez Bautista, will showcase two spaces that the Student Innovation Idea Labs (SIIL) manages: the Maker Studio in the Library and the iLab in Building 1. Since its opening in 2015, the Student Innovation Idea Labs have served as a vital resource to our campus community that provide access to 3D printers, sewing machines, and more!

Staff Council Toy Drive: Santa Cop Program
Staff Council is partnering with the Pomona Police Department to host a Toy Drive as part of the Pomona PD Santa Cop Program! We are asking the campus community to please donate new, unwrapped toys to help put a smile on a child's face this holiday season. Donation drop off will occur on Thursday December 1 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in front of the Library & Starbucks on Cal Poly Pomona's campus.

Black Thriving Initiative Launch Symposium
All campus members are invited to CPP's Black Thriving Initiative Launch Symposium Thursday, December 8, 1 - 5 p.m. in Ursa Minor. The program will include inspirational speakers and discussion about racial healing and justice, truth telling, cultural humility and how each of us can act as allies and advocates. The first hour of the program will be livestreamed via Zoom. Register online by Thursday, December 1.

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month
Since 1996, November has been observed as National Veterans and Military Families Month to express our country’s gratitude for the sacrifices that military families make while supporting our service members. CPP’s Veterans Resource Center is a centralized source for information, support, guidance and community for veterans and military personnel.

November is National Native American Heritage Month
November is also designated as National Native American Heritage Month to commemorate the history, heritage, and culture of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives. Celebratory gatherings, festivals and educational activities are happening throughout this month both at CPP through the Native American Student Center and in the broader community.

Year-End Deficit Hours Reconciliation
Non-exempt employees on an alternate work schedule may work more or less hours in a pay period than the possible hours in a state calendar. Employees who will end the calendar year with a deficit balance must utilize their leave credits (e.g., vacation, CTO, Holiday Credit, Personal Holiday, ADO), or be docked to reconcile the deficit. The Deficit Hours Reconciliation form must be completed and submitted to Payroll Services no later than Friday, December 9 to reconcile the total outstanding deficit hour balance for each applicable employee.

Vacation Usage for 12-month Faculty
After one (1) full year of employment, a 12-month faculty unit employee shall take at least forty (40) hours of vacation each calendar year. Any part of the forty (40) hours not taken during the calendar year shall be forfeited as of January 1 of the subsequent year. Please arrange to use vacation before Saturday, December 31 to avoid forfeiture. For more information, please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement for California Faculty Association (CFA), article 34.7.

Vacation Carryforward Maximum
Employees who will have vacation hours over the maximum carry forward amount on January 1 are encouraged to make arrangements to use this time prior to Saturday, December 31 to avoid forfeiture of hours. For employees who are eligible to carry forward vacation hours over the maximum into the next calendar year, please submit a Year End Vacation Carry-Forward Request form to Payroll Services before Tuesday, January 31, 2023. The request form must include signed approval by the HEERA manager and the division’s VP.
