Since the launch of The Employee Express in March 2022, we have published 19 editions filled with spotlights of employee excellence, tips from our Three to Thrive series, training opportunities, important HR updates and more!

Whitney Lopez

In her role for the Process and Project Management Office, Whitney supports the ITIP division regarding IT related projects or campus initiatives managing projects through the project lifecycle. She also manages the workflow for IT change requests within the division change management program.
In her nomination, it was said that "Whitney works closely with many campus stakeholders including staff, students, faculty, and visitors. She has also worked with the Safer Return Task Force to make study spaces available for students when social distancing was being enforced. Students benefited from the work Whitney did in the system making the study room request and reservation process an easy and positive experience."

| | This training will cover the rules and regulations pertaining to time and attendance for staff and faculty. This training session is designed to assist new timekeepers and approvers with getting accustomed to their responsibilities. Black Thriving Initiative Listening Sessions
Many members of the CPP community have reached out inquiring about ways they can provide feedback and engage in further dialogue. There are student, staff and faculty sessions scheduled, both virtually and in-person, that will take place this semester. These interactive and dialogue-based sessions and the feedback and recommendations that are garnered will help inform the future of the BTI and overall campus climate.

NSF I-Corps Spring Short Course
Join us for a FREE three-day institute, meeting virtually on March 10 and April 7 with an in-person field trip March 24. During this institute, participants will work together to translate their research, products, start-ups, technology, or ideas into the marketplace. Plus, you will learn how to qualify to apply to the NSF National Innovation Network Team Program with up to $50,000 in funding. The deadline to apply is Sunday, February 19.

Campus Campaign
From January 30 to February 10, CPP faculty and staff have the unique opportunity to have their payroll deduction matched.
This year’s giving focus is on diversity programs that support historically marginalized and underserved students. We want to ensure that resources are available for them to succeed by giving during this campaign.

2023 California Minimum Wage Increase
Effective January 1, 2023, the California minimum wage increased to $15.50 per hour. To coincide with this increase, the CSU will increase the salary range minimums of affected CSU classifications effective January 1, 2023.
For those that have pay rates of less than $15.50 per hour or $2,687 per month (base salary), Payroll Services will
update all job records with the new pay rate.

Vacation Usage for 12-month Faculty
After one (1) full year of employment, a 12-month faculty unit employee shall take at least forty (40) hours of vacation each calendar year. Any part of the forty (40) hours not taken during the calendar year shall be forfeited as of January 1 of the subsequent year. Payroll Services will conduct an adjustment process to remove any forfeited vacation hours from the employee's balances.

Vacation Carryforward Maximum
For employees who are eligible to carry forward vacation hours over the maximum into the next calendar year, please submit a Year End Vacation Carry-Forward Request form to Payroll Services no later than Tuesday, January 31. The request form must include signed approval by the HEERA manager and the division’s VP.
