What do you like to do when you are not working?

"The people I work with! I am blessed by working with the most amazing people that truly care about their jobs and understand the importance of what they do. This is not limited to those in my department but extends to those in other departments I work with as well."

"No task is unimportant, it all is interlinked to help keep the campus work flow balanced and moving forward."

"I'm a sloth, I love to sleep. I also enjoy reading, crocheting and painting pottery. I love time with my family. Meals around the table talking and laughing are the best. I enjoy playing with my dog Lola who is a ball of energy and the cuddles from her when I arrive home after work."

Do you know someone who shines at Cal Poly Pomona? Nominate a colleague who goes above and beyond, embodies our Principles of Community, and makes a positive impact every day. Let’s celebrate the exceptional team members who inspire us all!

Student Employment Workshop for Summer Hiring

Thursday April 16

2 - 3 p.m.

Wednesday April 22

9 - 11 a.m.

A key conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions may differ, and emotions can run strong. When avoided or handled poorly, these conversations can lead to strained relationships and unsatisfactory outcomes. This session will explore common causes of conflict, the benefits and real-life examples of key conversations, strategies for planning the interaction, and specific steps for navigating the conversation effectively.

This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the student employment hiring process, guiding employers through each step from start to finish. Designed for those planning to hire students for the Summer term, it will cover key procedures, timelines, and requirements, as well as best practices for recruiting, hiring, and onboarding student employees. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the full process and leave with the tools and knowledge needed to ensure a smooth, efficient, and successful hiring experience.

Impact of Learning Styles in the Workplace

Thursday May 14

12 - 1 p.m.

Thursday May 28

11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Welcome to our first-ever Walk & Talk to Student Health Services (Building 46), where a dedicated team supports more than 12,000 medical visits each year. We’ll kick things off with a walk up University Drive - better known as “Cardiac Hill” - but don’t worry, we’ll tackle it together! At the top, we’ll visit the 12,000-square-foot health hub that has served CPP students for 75 years. Inside, you’ll find providers, a pharmacy, lab, and X-ray services - all focused on caring for Broncos. Associate Director Kevin Malone will lead us on a tour and share how the center has evolved to meet students’ needs.

Our learning style plays an important role in how we process information across many areas of our work. Understanding your individual learning style can help prevent mistakes, boost productivity, and build self-confidence. This session will explore the three primary learning styles, the characteristics and challenges of each, tips for maximizing how you learn, and strategies for managing different learning styles, including a manager-focused perspective.
