features music by Ally Ahern
and a message by Tom
* * * * *
Lake Bluff native Ally Ahern returns to town from her budding music career in Los Angeles to join Ken Hall in providing inspiring music this Sunday @ the Gazebo in Lake Bluff. Tom will have two, shorter messages - including one sharing insights on the future direction of our church titled "Enthusiasm!" Please bring your family & friends, and thank you for remembering to (a) wear a mask in the park, (b) social distance at least 6' from others, and (c) bring a chair if you are able. If not, please enjoy one of ours! And, why not bring a pal this Sunday? Finally, don't forget that a service filmed in advance will be sent to everyone on our mailing list at 10:00 am each Sunday - the service can also be found on our website HERE.
Joint Service With Church of the Holy Spirit Sunday, July 26 - 10:00 am @ the Gazebo
Father Luke Back is the Rector of the Church of the Holy Spirit, an Episcopal Congregation in Lake Forest.
Dr. Thomas Dickelman is the founder and minister of the Community Church of
Lake Forest & Lake Bluff
" We're hoping for a WONDERFUL turnout at our Gazebo service on Sunday, July 26," offered Dr. Thomas Dickelman, minister of the Community Church. "We've invited our friends from the Episcopal congregation in Lake Forest - Church of the Holy Spirit - to join us for worship at the Gazebo. When we initially made the invitation, their only services were online and it just made sense to extend an invite for them to join us."
Dickelman added, "Father Luke Back is a great guy who has been a wonderful addition to the local faith community since he arrived at Church of the Holy Spirit two years ago last March. There's a really nice energy @ CHS these days."
"We're going to have a 'traditional' Community Church outdoor service, though what will make it extra fun is that both Luke and I will each preach for 10 minutes on the same passage - Matthew 13:31-33,44-52 - which are parables and sayings about the kingdom of heaven. We'll flip a coin to see who goes first - and then it will be really interesting to see the different tacks each of us takes."
"Also, Steve Rashid will provide music - and he is always excellent. This service should be a highlight of the summer," Dickelman said.

Join Elinor - and invite your friends to do the same - by, as she writes, "every day getting your little big old young fresh wrinkly smoothe dimply perfect body into some sort of natural waters source. Oceans, lakes, streams...whatever it is you have access to."
The challenge starts 7/22-8/30. Renew. Rejuvenate. Stay cool. And enjoy the God given gift of water. It’s truly life giving. Sign up at www.40daysofpeace.com or HERE . for daily encouragement!
Food DRIVE Serves Hungry
Folks @ Beacon Place
& El Puente Latino!
* * * * *
Twice each week our 6th Man John Corrigan drives food and dry goods to Beacon Place and El Puente Latino Food Pantries in Waukegan. Additionally, on Tuesdays and Thursdays John also drives a total of 200 meals created and donated by the Market House restaurant in Lake Forest for families affiliated with Beacon Place. We're doing what we can to help hungry children and adults - but we can only do it with your help. Please remember that the truck is open daily from 8 to 5 and that you can place donations in the back. Generally, the only time the truck is not parked outside our office is from 2:00 to 3:30 on Tuesday & Thursdays when we are making deliveries. Next time you go to the store, why not fill a bag just for folks who could really use the help? Thank you!

Friends -
In the "last but not least" category please know that @ our Sunday, July 26 service I'll be making an important announcement regarding two key personnel / staffing changes at the Community Church. Also, I'll be announcing a very special guest preacher for our Sunday, August 2 service. I very much hope that you will join us at the Gazebo on the 26th - and the 2nd. Have a great weekend... - TD
