Local priests sign letter of protest against comments by John Danforth, Episcopal priest and former senator
Six priests of the Diocese of Los Angeles are among 328 ordained Episcopal women who signed a Sept. 25 letter to the New York Times protesting comments by former U.S. senator and Episcopal priest John Danforth published in an NYT article about sexual assault allegations made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Danforth expressed sympathy for Kavanaugh, and for Justice Clarence Thomas, whom he called a "close friend" and whose 1991 nomination process also was disrupted by accusations of sexual harassment.

A Sept. 26 article from Episcopal News Service with reaction from Danforth and two of the women clergy, including the Rev. Canon Susan Russell of All Saints Church, Pasadena, is here. Other clergy from the Diocese of Los Angeles who signed the letter are the Rev. Betsy Hooper-Rosebrook; the Rev. Aimée Eyer-Delevettt; the Rev. Beth Kelly; the Rev. Rachel Nyback; and the Rev. Sheryl A. Kujawa-Holbrook.
