MINISTRY INTERNSHIP

All Saints Launches a Ministry Internship Program

All Saints' is  excited  to announce the launch of a Ministry Internship Program. The program will offer a year of service and discernment to a young adult interested in exploring a vocation in ordained or lay ministry, education, and outreach.

"Creating a Ministry Internship Program is an innovative solution and extraordinary opportunity for All Saints'. The program will allow us to support, mentor, and empower future leaders in the Episcopal Church," said Father Ryan Newman. "Also, as we look to grow our ministries and increase our outreach to the community, an intern will give to All Saints' another energetic and committed staff member focused on making All Saints' a cathedral for the people of Kauai."

It is a wonderful opportunity to work, serve, and live on the beautiful island of Kauai. Housing (in the cottage), transportation (sharing the Church car), a modest stipend, and professional spiritual direction will be offered with the intern position. Applications are available now online and are due by  Friday, July 22 .

The intern will serve approximately 32-40 hours a week, which will include Sunday mornings and some occasional evening responsibilities.  The intern will have four required "foundational" responsibilities within: (1) Youth Ministry, (2) Elementary Christian Education, (3) Outreach; and, (4) Worship Ministries.  In addition, the intern will work with Fr. Ryan to identify other areas of interest to experience and serve within.

The internship is scheduled to begin August 15, 2016 and concludes July 30, 2017. The intern will have an option to renew for a second intern year pending Rector and Vestry approval.

SATURDAY WORK DAY

Work Day This Saturday, June 25

The next Church Workday is this Saturday, June 25. It will begin at 8:00AM and conclude no later than 12:00PM. Volunteers are not required to stay the whole time, but it is always helpful.

For June 25th, volunteers will be staining and repairing the deck and cleaning the gym kitchen. In addition, there will be numerous tasks focused on cleaning, organizing, and beautifying the sanctuary and Church grounds.

Saturday Workdays are vital to the stewardship and preservation of our All Saints' Campus. Our 'Ohana is blessed with a beautiful campus and numerous buildings. However, these amazing resources require a great deal of ongoing maintenance and preventative care.    It is our call and duty  to properly care for our Church home--not only for this generation; but, for many generations to come.

There are jobs for all ages and all abilities. Workdays can be a wonderful family-centered activity. Many hands make light work!

Mahalo to David Murray and Mary Margaret Smith who got an early start on the deck refurbishing by power washing the deck.
HEAVENLY HIKES

INDEPENDENCE DAY BBQ
All Saints' annual Independence Day (4th of July) BBQ is scheduled on Sunday, July 3, following the 9:30AM service.

'OHANA RETREAT

Registration Forms Now Available!!!

Labor Day Weekend, w e invite your family to join All Saints' for our inaugural 'Ohana Retreat hosted this year at YWCA Camp Sloggett in Kokee. The retreat promises to be an enjoyable, family-centered, and spirit-filled weekend. Activities will be offered for all ages and a variety of activity levels. Check in will be Saturday, September 3rd at 3:00PM and check out will be Monday, September 5th at 11:00AM.

Registration forms are now available  and are be due by Sunday, July 31.

There is no charge to attend, but donations to underwrite the retreat are always welcomed. The Church will provide some meals, snacks, and drinks with the remainder being the responsibility of the 'Ohana. Currently, we are exploring transportation options since parking is limited and we do not want to make a larger-than-needed environmental footprint.

Camp Sloggett offers a 15 person lodge, a 15 person bunk house, a 4 person cabin, and plenty of space for outdoor camping amid the grounds. Tentatively, we have set a 50-person enrollment cap.

We will need volunteers to share their gifts, talents, and skills to coordinate activities and oversee responsibilities (ie. hiking, crafts, games, music, prayer and spiritual reflection, cooking, cleaning, etc.).

We hope that you join us for this amazing opportunity for fun, fellowship, and spiritual renewal. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to assist with the planning process, please email  Mary Margaret Smith .

Please note: On Sunday, September 4, All Saints' will not offer services at the Church. To view more photos of Camp Sloggett, click here .

HOMECOMING
The Sellner 'Ohana visit All Saints'

In October 2009, Fr. Ben Nelson hired George Sellner to serve as All Saints' Choir Director--a position he held for two years before moving to the mainland. George, his wife, Jadah, and their daughter Zoe now live in Northern California. This past Sunday, the Sellners returned to All Saints' to attend the 9:30AM service.

George is the founder of " One Heart Music ",  an early childhood music program designed for families to sing, play, move and learn together. One Heart Music offers parent and child classes, birthday parties, community events, preschools, after-school programs, enrichment camps, teacher workshops, and world travel, and cultural exchange.

" Music is a universal language that speaks to all people and heals hearts," says George.

George recently released his first CD, "One Heart Music Kids Album," which is available for purchase on the One Heart Music website.

Jadah is the co-author and co-founder of Simple Green Smoothies.
