When my son was a teenager, he had some friends over to the house on a Saturday afternoon. As the afternoon became evening, he announced, “You’ll all need to leave soon because tomorrow is church.” To which one of his comrades (who didn’t know what I did for a living) responded, “Why go to church? Vacation Bible School 2020 - Register Now
June 15-19 we will go on an adventure with Knights of the North Castle to find the King's Armor! Vacation Bible School will be daily from 9:00 to 11:30 am. Cost is $25 per student. There will be classes for preschoolers thru 5 th graders. Older students and adults are invited to volunteer!
Parents Night Out - Feb. 14
The high schoolers will be hosting a Parent’s Night Out: Valentine's Day on Friday, February 14, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.  Drop the kids off at the church and grab dinner without feeling rushed, or go see that movie you’ve been wanting to see. A pizza dinner will be provided with juice boxes and fruit. A freewill donation will be collected to support the High School Mission Trip. Please register on Realm!
Help with Habitat for Humanity - Feb. 25
There are two planning/information meetings on February 25. Meet in the Cafe at HTLC at 4:00 pm for information about an upcoming Wall Build. Meet at Ankeny Presbyterian Church (SE 3 rd & Trilein) at 5:30 pm for information about Rock the Block, which will be held in Ankeny June 11-13. Lutheran Day on the Hill - Feb. 25
Lutheran Day on the Hill is Tuesday, February 25, from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm. Join Garth Englund and others from HTLC at this free event. ELCA Lutherans from all over Iowa will be present to learn more about citizen advocacy on important issues facing our state. For more information and to register, click here. Worship on Ash Wednesday - Feb. 26
Ash Wednesday is February 26. We will have worship at noon, 5:30, and 7:00 pm. There will not be any dinner, learning activities, or choir rehearsals that evening.

Wartburg College Choir Concert - Feb. 29/March 1
The Wartburg College Castle Singers will be in concert at HTLC on Saturday, February 29, at 7:00 pm. They will also sing in worship the morning of Sunday, March 1. Click here to watch a video about the music ensembles at Wartburg College.
Lent Evening Book Study - Sign Up
Join Intern Garth for a Lenten Book Study on the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. The group will meet on Tuesdays, March 3-31, from 6:00-7:00 pm in Room 209. Books can be purchased through Amazon. Click here to sign up for the study.
Lent Noon Gatherings - Sign Up
Lent Noon Gatherings will begin on Wednesday, March 4 from noon-1:30 pm. A light meal will be served with a free-will offering, followed by devotional time and small group discussion of assigned reading from Between the Dark and the Daylight: Embracing the Contradictions of Life by Joan Chittister. The reading for each week is short meditations which offer ways of understanding ourselves, each other and God. Books and reading schedules are available in the Resource Center for $14. Holy Trinity Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is in need of the following items:
  • Recently purchased ground beef, chicken or other mainstay meats that are in 1-2 pound packages. Please place in the freezer located in the Food Pantry. Enter the door in the south hallway marked "Food Pantry Donation Drop Off."
  • Laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, and personal care items (toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc)
  • Canned meat
  • Children's books
  • Clean, empty plastic grocery bags
  • Credit/debit card donations at the Giving Station located in the Narthex. 
You may place items in the grocery carts located by the entrances to the church.
Your monetary, food and personal care gifts are an outreach of God's love to the Ankeny community.
