Thank You! Troop 188 Food Drive
Scout Troop 188 held a food drive and donated the food to Holy Trinity's Food Pantry. Thank you!

If you would like to donate to the food pantry, place food items in the grocery carts at the main doors to the church. In July, each week we served an average of 38 families, that served 103 individuals. That number has been increasing each week.
Too many tomatoes? Cucumbers? Beans? Zucchini? The food pantry would love to distribute your excess garden produce to those in need. Place your extra items in the fridge in the food pantry or bring them to the office. They will be distributed on Tuesday afternoons when the food pantry is open.

New Grief Group: Mourning to Dancing
For those who grieve and are struggling with loss, we are beginning a new small group experience called Mourning to Dancing. We will meet for the first time at 6:30 pm on Monday, August 22 at the church. Pastor Tim will facilitate the group as we begin. Turning our Mourning to Dancing is a promise wrapped up in the new life revealed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God’s desire that we find hope and joy in the midst of our losses and grief. We do that together better than we do it in solitude or isolation. All are welcome to come and find out more.

THOUGHTS FROM PASTORS & STAFF
GRACE NOTES BLOG: THE CHURCH - DYING & THRIVING
This spring one of the synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America had to cancel its annual assembly because they couldn’t gather a quorum. A synod’s assembly elects leaders and adopts budgets. A synod’s assembly affects every congregation in the synod, yet they couldn’t make it happen. Our congregation had to cancel Vacation Bible School this summer due to a lack of interest. Congregations all over are registering lower participation levels in all aspects of congregational life. The pandemic did not cause this – but it accelerated it. Twenty years ago, the average church member attended worship twice a month or more. Today it is once a month or less.
HOLY TRINITY FOOD PANTRY
Donate to Holy Trinity Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is in need of the following items:
  • saltine crackers and oyster crackers
  • frozen meat in one-pound packages, labeled (chicken pieces, ground beef, ground pork, ground turkey, ham)
  • canned soup
  • canned meats
  • canned fruit
  • toilet paper
  • paper towels
  • peanut butter
  • feminine hygiene products
  • diapers
  • personal care items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, shaving products)
If you have perishable foods to donate, please contact Lisa in the church office to find out if we have the capacity to store these items before bringing them to the pantry.
Due to space constraints, our food pantry does not accept clothing or other household items.
Your monetary, food and personal care gifts are an outreach of God's love to the Ankeny community. Thank you for giving generously!
