Triple C's Mission: To provide statewide leadership in mobilizing resources, services, and partnerships that strengthen Ohio colleges and universities’ capacity to educate students for civic and social responsibility and to improve community life.

Triple C Announces 2025 Hoch & Ping Award Winners

The Community Campus Coalition (Triple C) is proud to announce the 2025 winners of the David Hoch Memorial Award for Excellence in Service and the Charles J. Ping Student Service Award, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to community engagement and service-learning at Triple C campus partner institutions.

This year’s David Hoch Memorial Award recipient is Dr. Megan Church-Nally from the University of Cincinnati, nominated by University of Cincinnati President Dr. Neville Pinto.

In addition, the Charles J. Ping Student Service Award honors 13 outstanding undergraduate students across Ohio, with special recognition for two Legacy Award (*) recipients: Riley Anderson, Marceana Black, Marissa H. Blauch, Adam Xavier Cassini, Eve Currens, Viola Day, *Tanya Pai Dhungat, Mollie Elizabeth Duffy, Madi Eschenbach, Lila Ferry, Hannah Bryn Dodson, *Jess Mitchell and Elizabeth Patrick.

“The 2025 Hoch and Ping Award winners exemplify the power of service-learning and civic engagement in higher education,” said Stephanie Dodd, Executive Director of Community Campus Coalition. “These individuals are making a lasting impact on their campuses and communities, and we are proud to recognize their dedication to advancing community engagement across Ohio."

2025 David Hoch Memorial Award for Excellence in Service

The David Hoch Memorial Award recognizes faculty and staff who exemplify leadership in advancing the civic mission of their institution through service-learning and community engagement. This award honors the legacy of the late David Hoch, former Dean of Honors and Director of Service-Learning at The University of Toledo, whose leadership nurtured a culture of civic responsibility on campus.

Dr. Megan Church-Nally, this year’s Hoch Award recipient, serves as an unwavering advocate for service-learning and nonprofit leadership at the University of Cincinnati. In 2023–2024 alone, over 4,000 UC students participated in more than 300 service-learning courses across 13 colleges—thanks in part to Dr. Church-Nally’s dedication.

Through her work with the Organizational Leadership program, Dr. Church-Nally empowers her students to apply their skills in real-world settings. Her classes have raised over $9,000 for local nonprofits and built long-term relationships with small and medium-sized organizations that benefit both the students and the broader Cincinnati community.

Great Stories from Triple C’s AmeriCorps Student Resource Centers: Celebrating AmeriCorps Week and LeaderCorps Member Johnathan Roberts

During AmeriCorps Week (March 9–15), Triple C celebrated the impact of our Student Resource Center (SRC) AmeriCorps members who are making a difference on campuses across Ohio. This year’s theme of everyday service leading to extraordinary change came to life through creative, student-led projects promoting food security and community connection.

Johnathan Roberts, an SRC AmeriCorps member at Ohio University Chillicothe and a participant in the LeaderCorps program, shared how his experience helped him grow as a leader while tackling campus food insecurity. Through monthly collaboration with peers across Ohio, Johnathan helped shape a service project focused on a shared challenge—access to food on college campuses.

Across the state, SRC AmeriCorps members distributed reusable grocery bags, cutlery kits, and pantry-inspired recipes—thanks to support from a mini-grant from Baldwin Wallace University.

Events raised awareness about nutrition, sleep, and access to campus food resources.

From service to storytelling, AmeriCorps Week highlighted the powerful role our members play in building stronger, healthier campus communities.
