Triple C's Mission: To provide statewide leadership in mobilizing resources, services, and partnerships that strengthen Ohio colleges and universities’ capacity to educate students for civic and social responsibility and to improve community life.

Introducing Triple C’s New Focus Areas & Advisory Council

Triple C has launched four strategic focus areas—Civic Engagement, Community Engagement, Community-Engaged Teaching & Research, and Student Basic Needs—to guide statewide collaboration and support meaningful campus-community impact.

Each focus area is supported by a Community Council open to campus partners interested in building networks, sharing best practices, and advancing shared goals. Participating is a great way to get involved and support your own professional growth.

Institutions are also invited to appoint a representative to the Triple C Advisory Council, which meets quarterly to strengthen cross-campus collaboration and inform statewide planning.

Triple C Presents at ITGA 2025 Conference

Triple C Executive Director Stephanie Dodd recently had the opportunity to present at the 2025 International Town & Gown Association (ITGA) City & University Relations Conference alongside Alison Doehring from The University of Akron.

Their session, From Collaboration to Impact: Meeting Student Basic Needs Through Partnerships, explored how colleges and universities can build intentional, strategic relationships with community-based organizations to address student hardships—including housing insecurity, food access, and mental health resources.

The presentation also highlighted the evolution of Student Resource Centers (SRCs) and spotlighted The University of Akron’s leadership in this space. Participants left with actionable strategies and examples of how campuses can move beyond transactional outreach and foster sustainable, equity-centered collaborations that truly support student success and well-being.

We’re grateful to ITGA for the platform to share this important work and continue learning alongside national leaders in community-campus engagement.

Campus Resilience & Response Strategies

Campuses across the country are facing rising tensions—from hunger strikes and protest activity to the potential deployment of federal troops. In response to these complex and evolving challenges, The Ohio State University is convening a virtual event to support campus leaders in planning and response.

On Monday, June 23 from 12:00–1:30 PM (EST), join a national conversation focused on effective de-escalation tactics, crisis preparedness, and collaborative solutions. The event will feature insights from university leaders, law enforcement officials, and experts from Princeton’s Bridging Divides Initiative.

This session is ideal for administrators, public safety professionals, and community partners seeking tools and strategies to strengthen campus resilience.

A Zoom link will be shared the Friday before the event.

Advocating for Ohio Students: HB 157

Triple C Executive Director Stephanie Dodd recently testified before the Ohio House Workforce & Higher Education Committee in support of the Hunger-Free Campus Act (HB 157)—a vital step toward addressing food insecurity on college campuses.

The bill proposes the creation of a Hunger-Free Campus Grant Program to support campus food pantries, emergency aid, SNAP outreach, and other essential services. As Stephanie emphasized in her testimony, meeting students’ basic needs is directly tied to retention, graduation, and preparing a strong, ready workforce.

Triple C proudly supports this legislation and remains committed to advocating for equity, student well-being, and long-term economic opportunity—because students can’t learn hungry.

Supporting Student Basic Needs:

Insights from Ohio’s Collegiate Foster Youth

Access to food and housing is critical to student success—but for many Ohio students with foster care experience, these needs often go unmet.

A new two-part study from Foster Success, in partnership with Chamberlin/Dunn and the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, sheds light on the scope of food and housing insecurity among participants in Ohio’s Education and Training Voucher (ETV) program. The reports highlight both the widespread challenges and offer strategic campus-level recommendations for supporting foster youth in higher education.

Triple C encourages campus and community partners to explore these findings as we work together to promote equity and student well-being.

Spreading The Word: A Speaker Series Opportunity

Community-Engaged Alliance (CEA), Triple C’s network organization in Indiana, invites professionals from all fields to share their expertise through its Spreading the Word speaker series.
