Triple C's Mission: To provide statewide leadership in mobilizing resources, services, and partnerships that strengthen Ohio colleges and universities’ capacity to educate students for civic and social responsibility and to improve community life. | | Triple C Grant Reminder: 9/11 Day of Remembrance Campus Service Grants |
As part of the IKONC regional collaboration (Community-Engaged Alliance, Engage KY, Community Campus Coalition, and NC Campus Engagement), the Community-Engaged Alliance is helping lead a powerful opportunity for campuses to engage in meaningful service this fall through their 9/11 Day of Remembrance Campus Service Grants.
With support from 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps, the initiative aims to mobilize more than 6,500 students across 11 states in service projects that support underserved and marginalized individuals and communities.
The 9/11 Day of Remembrance Campus Service Grants are designed to help higher education institutions plan and implement impactful service and remembrance programming aligned with the September 11 National Day of Service.
Grants of $2,500 will be awarded to selected campuses to honor the day through activities rooted in unity, service, and reflection. Triple C member campuses are eligible to apply for funding. Campuses receiving funding must be active members in 2025-2026.
Applications are open now, with a deadline of Friday, June 14, 2025.

Triple C Campus Partner Spotlight: Kenyon College’s Science Saturday Connects Community Through STEM
|
Since 2011, Kenyon College has welcomed hundreds of middle school students from rural central Ohio into its labs and classrooms for Science Saturday — a hands-on science outreach program designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in STEM.
As a proud campus partner, Triple C celebrates this powerful example of higher education’s role in community engagement.
|
Hands-On Learning Meets Community Engagement
What began as separate programs supported by the National Science Foundation has evolved into Science Saturday, an initiative offered most fall and spring semesters. Students explore everything from launching rockets to extracting plant DNA, guided by trained Kenyon student volunteers and faculty.
The program is co-directed by Kenyon faculty and student leaders who not only plan engaging activities but also train a team of 15–20 student volunteers and high school ambassadors. Many of these high schoolers are former Science Saturday participants themselves — a testament to the program’s lasting impact.
|
The result? Over 1,500 students from at least seven school districts have had the opportunity to experiment, play, and discover in a collegiate setting.
Science Saturday exemplifies how Triple C’s campus partners are expanding access, deepening connections, and empowering the next generation of learners.
