Free program for adults and families

Join Naturalist Judy Semroc for an entrancing walk focused on owl species

present in our area. You’ll also get tips for spotting owls during the day and learn about where they like to roost.

After the indoor program, Judy will lead us on a hike to listen and look for this elusive nighttime avian predator. While two main species of owls can sometimes be heard or seen, there is no guarantee that we will see or hear them. Please know that maintaining quiet during our walk to the woods is especially important in trying to view these amazing birds.

SUMMIT SOIL & WATER WINTER 2023 NEWSLETTER

Parks Board Hard At Work For Your Community

The board is studying on the following important items:

  • Feasibility study for a community center
  • Capital improvements projects for 2023 and beyond
  • Implementation of the Parks Master Plan study
  • No smoking policy in the parks

The City of Stow completed a Parks & Recreation Master Plan in 2022, and as part of that master planning process, almost 1,700 residents completed a community survey. In that survey, respondents were asked to prioritize their top four recreational amenities for their households. The amenity receiving the strongest support was a community center/recreation center.

As a result of this master plan and its public input process, the City engaged a consulting team to complete a feasibility study for a multi-purpose, multi-generational indoor facility. The feasibility study will provide the City with key data and information on the market and demand for services, develop operational costs, and determine capital investment needed for potential construction. The results of the study will assist the City in determining if a community/recreation center is feasible for our community, and if the data deems it is, what amenities and programs should be a part of the facility. The study should be completed in February.
