Minister's Moment

Everywhere you look, there is evidence that life circumstances are not distributed equally. For example, while some people live in luxury, others exist in poverty. In addition, it seems random and unfair when someone who is careless or selfish lives without consequence while another person who seems to be undeserving can suffer catastrophe for no apparent reason. So, what can you do to resolve this apparent conflict?

First, it is important to recognize that your perceptions can supply you with endless evidence of unfairness. However, from a spiritual perspective, you must accept that you are choosing to see life this way. Spiritually speaking, there is no such thing as unfairness.

Understanding this Truth and affirming it for yourself is fundamental to living a peace-filled spiritual life. It starts by shifting away from judging the circumstances or behavior of yourself or others. Then you must learn to trust that there is a divine purpose to what is happening no matter how it seems in the moment. Taking this divine perspective doesn’t mean that you don’t feel compassion for those who suffer. However, it will free you to see things differently. For example, if a child gets stung by a wasp, you might feel sympathy for the child knowing that it is experiencing temporary pain. Yet, if you suspend judgement and remain open to a higher purpose at work, you will know that something good will come of it. Perhaps it will be a greater respect for wasps.

Join Reverend Towles this Sunday as he reveals the spiritual Truth behind life’s seeming unfairness and how applying this Truth can lead to a more powerful and meaningful life experience.
