Website Edition

August 4, 2022

Dear Rondout Families and Faculty,

The August mailing is on its way to you filled with important information you will need for the start of the school year. Summer is winding down and preparations for opening days are accelerating. This stage of our construction project is wrapping up. We are waiting for word on some supply chain issues so we can set the date for the final installations which may take place over winter break.

Today's flyer is jam packed so give yourself some time to check it out and catch up on the latest news and events.

There will be just a few staff changes this school year. Mrs. Jan Hutchins will be replacing Mrs. Arisbet Figueroa while she completes her maternity leave after giving birth to her beautiful twin daughters last spring. Mrs. Barbara Flaws will be continuing as BASE Director but will be leaving the kitchen and bringing her great experience working with students to her new role as a part time program assistant. Ms. Maryann Slavin will now be running the kitchen and we look forward to moving beyond the COVID restrictions that limited our past offerings. Be sure to check out the menu for new items as well as some returning favorites. I am sorry to report that Mr. Albro is currently out on a medical leave and we wish him all the best as he courageously faces some serious health challenges.

Please be sure to sign up for your intake parent conference (grades K-6) and RSVP for the grade level informational zoom meeting if you are a 7th or 8th grade parents. These meetings will be taking place on Thursday August 25th.

We hope that many families will be able to "Go Out To The Ballgame" for this year's back to school bash on Friday August 26, 2022. Tickets for the final Chicago Dogs home game are available by clicking the link below.

Hope you and your family enjoy the final days of summer. We look forward to seeing you soon.  Take care..be safe...Until next time...

Dr. Jenny                           Ms. Elizabeth

On Thursday, August 25 from 12:15-7:55 p.m. parents will have the opportunity for families to meet with their child’s teacher or team. Intake conferences allow Rondout faculty to connect with families, and set the stage for learning in the year ahead.  We encourage parents to sign up for an in-person conference, but have scheduled a number of zoom conference slots to accommodate parents as needed. Reminder links will be sent out prior to conferences. Please enter the building at the South Entrance near the gym, for in person conferences.

K-5 Classes:

Parents will sign-up for a conference time using the in person or zoom link. If you are in need of a zoom conference, please be sure to select a designated zoom time slot. Please be sure that you are signing up on the correct grade level tab in the link. K-5 teachers will meet with parents in the conference area in the gym.

6-8 Classes:

Individual conferences are reserved for incoming 6th grade students. Please be sure that you are signing up using the zoom or in person link for grade 6. During the conference, parents will meet with the Upper School team of teachers. 7th and 8th grade parents are invited to a whole group, informational zoom meeting to review important information specific to these grade levels.

Welcome Mrs. Hutchins

We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Jan Hutchins, long-term Spanish substitute, to the Rondout community this fall. Mrs. Hutchins spent her career as a middle school Spanish teacher in neighboring districts, and has a wealth of experience teaching the Spanish language. Mrs. Figueroa will return in early November after spending time with her newly expanded family. She and Mrs. Hutchins have been collaborating to support a smooth transition.  Welcome to Rondout, Mrs. Hutchins!
