Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,

It has been great to speak with our families about summer learning plans, we will be reaching out to those remaining families which we have not spoken with so far. Follow-up materials from the conferences will be sent home at the end of the month. We hope to connect with all our families by the time we end the school year.

Next week the Board of Education is holding its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. In addition to their regular monthly business, they will be recognizing teachers/staff who are celebrating milestone anniversaries from 5 years to 30 years. They will be recognized at the start of the meeting. The Board is still seeking applicants to fill a board vacancy. The deadline for applications is now Friday May 19, 2023. Interested individuals may request a copy of the application from Mary Amidei via email at mary.amidei@rondoutsd72.org. Interviews will be held at a special Board of Education meeting on May 23, 2023.

This week Rondout’s Green Club, Sustainability Department and Fourth Grade class brought their study of pollinators and the life cycle of a butterfly to a close with a release of butterflies into the Bird Bee and Butterfly (Pollinator) Garden. Check out the excitement on the video that is included in today’s Falcon Flyer.

Please mark your calendar for Arts Night this Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Graduation next Wednesday May 24, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. We encourage families to check out the parade of graduates that will occur on May 24th starting at 5 p.m. A map of the parade route is also included in today’s flyer so you can be outdoors to wave them on. Graduates will be participating in the parade of vehicles which will travel through the neighborhoods. Ms. Lori, the bus driver, will be leading the parade in a big yellow school bus so you won’t be able to miss it.

We will be sharing our summer calendar of events in next week’s flyer. The calendar will include information on office hours, library events, and garden “party” days and back to school information.

Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to everyone in the Rondout Community. Have a wonderful weekend and a terrific week ahead.
