Contractions, curves, spirals, tilts, falls, floor work and weight shift will all be explored with a special attention to develop clarity, flow and strength.
Belly Dance w/ Siouxsie

Belly Dance is a wonderful workout, using deep muscle coordination and strengthening. The music is emotional and the many dance styles from the Middle East, Magrebi and Central Asia are humorous, beautiful and divinely feminine. Dr Cooper is a well known dance ethnographer, writer and performance artist from the UK whose teaching style is infectious, up-to-date and smart. You will learn the various folk styles, social dances, popular and commercial dances of Egypt. You will travel to North Africa through dance and learn the funky and spirited rhythmic dances from Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. Class content also includes the dances of the Levant region, Saudi Arabia and Iran, some unusual hair swishing, darkly humorous cross-dressing and soulful community line dancing from these regions. Siouxsie is an innovator and teaches contemporary dance styles that have emerged from this dance community including Classical Sharqi, fusion styles and others she has developed herself. Not only do you learn the cultural background and musical richness of this part of the world; you also learn how to move your body well, feel grounded and satisfied living in your body. These classes are LGBTQAI friendly, men are welcome to learn how to ground and loosen their lower backs for good spinal alignment and health.

Teens & Adults
Wednesdays 6:30-8pm
September 1st to November 17th
12 Weeks $288
Contemporary w/ Bridget Wheeler

With an emphasis on developing strength and musicality, this class pushes dancers to move expansively and allow their inner light to shine!
Our warm up will help build stability, awareness, and control. Once that foundation has been established, we will travel across the floor with combinations that encourage dancers to utilize the momentum of the body. We will workshop to build confidence with turns, floor work, and inversions that we wouldn't find in a ballet class! A longer choreographed piece will encourage students to channel their inner performer, respond to the dynamics of music, and be bold.

Ages 7–9
Tuesdays 4 – 5pm

Ages 10-12
Tuesdays 5-6:30pm

Teens & Adults
Tuesdays 6:30 – 8pm

Improvisation, Composition & Fall Repertory

We will explore movement with guided Improvisations with the goal of clearing the slate to allow for authentic expression and discovering one's own movement style. Dancers will create an intention for a Composition and will work in class and independently. Work will be shared in class as part of the process. We will work together giving feedback about what we see and support one another through each individual process. Final works will be presented in a formal performance in the spring, place & time TBA. This second half of the session will be part of the Senior Company rehearsal commitmnet for specific Green Mountain Nutcracker Repertory.
