Connected and Informed: National Association/Professional Organization Membership

Joining a professional organization is an excellent way to connect with peers, access valuable resources, and stay current on best practices. In turn, those opportunities can help you increase your STARS level! Involvement in organizations like the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) gives you additional access to professional development, networking opportunities, and more.

Becoming a member of a professional organization and maintaining your membership can earn you points towards the Administrative and Leadership Practices Domain on the Standards of Quality.

To find out more about these organizations and to join:

The list of professional organizations you can join doesn’t end with these options.

Contact your Family Child Care Specialist if you’d like to look at other opportunities, or if you have more questions about STARS!

As we go through the seasons, so does our food. This summer, we’ve been able to enjoy wonderful fruits like strawberries, watermelons, and all kinds of berries.

In the fall, our root veggies get their time to shine. With the ever-changing seasons, these are great times to adjust our menus in order to be able to offer new experiences to the children.

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard a parent tell me that their child won’t touch something that they devoured and asked for seconds in the classroom. That’s because children feed off each other’s energies. If they see their friend try something new, they are more likely to try it as well. Of course, there will always be the picky eater, but they are why it is extremely important to keep offering these choices. There’s a chance that they are working up their courage to try it, but it is something they have to go through at their own pace.

Need some reminders on what the required meal components are as you adapt your menu? Reach out to your Family Child Care Specialist!
