ECE TRIS Outage

As we have been informed by the Division of Child Care and ECE-TRIS, some changes are being made in our Training Platform.

We will be transitioning over to an updated Professional Development Registry called the Commonwealth Offerings for Learning and Training (COLT) System.

During this transition process, the ECE-TRIS system will be unavailable from June 13th until July 31st.

This blackout period takes place during the end of the training year for the majority of child care providers. We encourage ALL child care providers to obtain their required training hours (9 hours for Certified; 15 hours for Licensed) prior to June 13th.

The Division of Child Care is looking into an alternative way to submit training(s) completed during the blackout period. The Division of Regulated Child Care will not be reviewing training records or issuing deficiencies based on training completion beginning June 13th until October 2nd.

Please Contact dccpdstaff@ky.gov with any training transition questions.

Our Recommendations

Prior to the System Blackout on June 13th:

  • Download your training record for a minimum of this previous training year. If you are in ALL STARS, we recommend downloading your training record from the previous three years.
  • Download all certificates and credentials stored on ECE-TRIS.
  • Complete ALL required training hours prior to June 13th. If this is not feasible and you are able to attend a training after June 13th, please keep all training information and contact information for the trainer as the Division of Child Care works to create an alternative submission for training during the blackout.

As the weather warms up and summer approaches, it’s the perfect time to head outside and explore!

This Nature Scavenger Hunt is a fun, low-prep activity that encourages children to use their senses while discovering the world around them. Great for all ages and ideal for in-home child care settings, it supports language development, observation skills, and a connection to nature.

Click here to access the activity and instructions.

As we head into the summer months, we immediately think of starting up our Water Days.

Water Days can be a great way to encourage gross motor, sensory, and science play. But it has the added risk of slips, falls, and drowning in some circumstances. Please make sure you are following active supervision guidelines any time you and the children are around water, and following proper regulations regarding water play.

For Certified Programs Only, please keep in mind the regulation has changed to include the new ratio of one child to one adult while a pool is in use. For Licensed Programs, a pool may not be used during program hours.
