MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear CCISD Community,

As the community spread of the Coronavirus expands within our school district boundaries and across Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has extended the emergency school closure  until Monday, May 4, 2020 . We will reevaluate the start date for Clear Creek ISD during the week of  April 27, 2020 .

As an added safety measure, CCISD playgrounds and tracks have been closed for public use during this Stay at Home Order by Galveston County and Harris County. We hope to reopen these venues as soon as possible.

As I have expressed before, while our doors may be locked, learning continues in Clear Creek ISD. I am most proud of our students, teachers and yes, our parents and guardians for engaging in lessons and assignments through distance learning. I realize this has not been easy and while there are hurdles to overcome, please know that our number one focus is to ensure each child successfully reaches his or academic potential at his or her own pace.

This closure extension is perhaps the hardest on our senior students, especially during the traditional season of many celebrations. Your campus administrators and teachers are creative. They are working to make sure that your senior year memories are filled with more than the memory of the Coronavirus. We have not taken May activities off the calendar for the Class of 2020 at this time, but that could change in the coming weeks.

To our teachers and parents, thank you for your patience and commitment to the work ahead. It is important for all of us to take breaks, get some fresh air, read, and spend that quality time with our loved ones. At the end of the crisis, it will be the time spent together that your children will recall the most over a homework assignment.

Please heed the advice of health authorities and stay home. It will take all of us to flatten the curve so that we can resume our normal activities. I for one, cannot wait until we can have our students and staff back in schools.

Thank you,

Greg Smith, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
