MVBC Family Happenings
I am fond of telling people that I’m a child of the 80s. I make this comment usually in the context of hearing music from that era. It was in the 80s, during my late teens and early 20s, when God got hold of my heart and saved me. So figuratively and spiritually, I consider myself a child of the 80s. But I am actually a child of the 60s. I was oblivious to so much that was going on in the world during that time. I have vague memories of watching our black-and-white TV as astronauts were being sent into space. I was also oblivious to the so-called sexual revolution that was taking place all around me. Our world has made so many advances in various fields since the 60s, but it has not advanced beyond its need for God. We live in a world which continues its rebellion against God. That rebellion takes many forms, but the form we want to address this Sunday is the way the world fails to understand the sanctity of life. We just concluded a three-part series on Wednesday nights, dealing with the topic of abortion and how we, as Christians, are called to respond to it. My hope this Sunday is to broaden our focus to understand that sanctity of life includes all life in all parts of the world. Please join us this Sunday as we seek to gain an appreciation for what it means that God so loved the world that he sent his only Son into it, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.
Tomorrow - Senior Saints' Brunch
We hope you can come to our Senior Saints' Brunch tomorrow (Saturday) from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Annex. Please plan to bring a $5 gift (gag gift or not) for a Yankee Swap/White Elephant exchange and a dish to share! For any questions, contact Pastor Jeff. Hope to see you there and trust there will not be a snow storm!
Baby Bottle Drive - Real Options
This Sunday, January 22, is Sanctity of Life Sunday. We have partnered again this year to participate in Real Options' Baby Bottle Drive. Real Options is a faith-based, non-profit ministry pregnancy center rooted in the compassion and love of Jesus Christ; which addresses the needs of women and empowers them to make life-affirming choices. To learn more about Real Options ministry, click here. You may pick up as many bottles as you like to fill with your change. Please plan to return the baby bottles to church by February 19. Rescheduled - Constitution Revisions from the SMCA Service Group
We were not able to have the vote on the recommended constitution revisions related to a dedicated SMCA School Board this past Sunday due to not meeting our quorum. Our rescheduled business meeting is on the calendar for Sunday, February 5, at 12:00 p.m. The SMCA Service Group would like to share with you the most recent proposal with updates based on congregational feedback from our information meeting earlier this year. The primary change is moving details of School Board members from the “Officers” section of the church constitution to the section that provides the rest of the details about South Merrimack Christian Academy, so the School Board members would not be officers of the church. You can access the updated recommendation here! Please reach out to us with any of your comments, questions, or concerns to our deacon Aaron Stark.

2023 Weekly Giving Envelopes Update
For those of you who use weekly giving envelopes, our 2023 envelopes have not arrived yet from the printer. Due to staffing and material shortages, they can only offer an estimated time they might arrive (late January or possibly mid-February). If you would like to give using an envelope, we have been providing undated and unnumbered envelopes next to the Offering basket in the back of the multi-purpose room. Although this envelope does not reflect your giving number, if you have your name written inside the envelope (on a check or a separate piece of paper), the Finance staff will apply it to the proper account and ensure your giving is reflected accurately in 2023!! Thank you for your patience and understanding! We will provide an update on this when we have more information.
Job Posting
MVBC has a part-time job opening for a custodian. Contact Linette Lukawitz for more information or click here for the job description.
You can still worship through giving from home. You may either mail checks to 517 Boston Post Road, Merrimack, NH, 03054, or donate online here. To view our year-end giving statement click here.
