The angel of the LORD
The female donkey sees him first: an ominous, sword-wielding figure appearing right in front of her. Startled, she veers off the path and into a field. After two more encounters with this frightening figure, the donkey's rider -- a mercenary prophet named Balaam -- sees him as well. He is a divine figure identified as "the angel of the LORD." But who, really, is he?

Trinitarian facets of salvation
For followers of Jesus, salvation is experienced as an everlasting, unbreakable relationship with him. It has both temporal and eternal benefits. Consider, for example, that we are foreknown, predestined, and elected in eternity past. Put another way, we are saved before time began. Other elements of salvation are experienced in our lifetimes, with God's final work of salvation -- glorification -- experienced at the resurrection. The three persons of the Trinity are engaged in all of this.

John's testimony from Patmos
In the visions the apostle John receives while exiled on the Isle of Patmos, he often records the words of Jesus foretelling his return. John may have recorded these visions as early as the AD 60s or as late as the AD 90s. In any case, Jesus assures his followers -- and warns his opponents -- that his return is certain.

Salvation in time, and beyond time
Previously, we explored three facets of salvation before time: foreknowledge, election, and predestination. While these are sovereign acts of God, they cannot be divorced from human responsibility. Now, we turn our attention to facets of salvation in time, and beyond time.

John's testimony from Patmos: Part 2
In the previous post, we looked at several passages from the Book of Revelation that address the return of Jesus. In this post, we complete our study by examining passages from the last chapter of Revelation. In addition, we offer a brief summary of posts from 2021 regarding the second coming of Jesus.
