At ACLD, we are committed to fostering a workplace for our employees and an environment for the people we support that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. Black History Month serves as a poignant reminder of the rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives that help shape our organization. It is a time for us to not only acknowledge the pivotal role of African Americans in shaping our world but also to reflect on our own responsibilities in advancing equality within our company and beyond.

In this edition of Limelight, we are proud to feature testimonials from your fellow coworkers on what Black History Month means to them.

Earlier this month we got to celebrate our most recent Employees of the Quarter at a wonderful luncheon on our main campus. We would once again like to extend our congratulations to each of them and thank them for their outstanding work in their respective roles. Due to high participation in the past several meetings and our limitations on Zoom, we ask that each employee only attend one meeting per quarter. We will also record one session per quarter that we will make available for all staff to access after the meeting.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2024- Quarter 4 DEI Collaboration Contest!

Alongside the Vocational Department (featured in last month's Limelight click here to view!) we would like to congratulate Children's Services, who also were named winners of the Quarter 4 DEI Collaboration contest!

In addition to their previously shared initiatives in their onboarding/new hire process, Children's Services has worked hard in creating events that celebrate the students and their families- welcoming families to come into the school and engage and celebrate a fall fest of interactive activities giving families a positive experience to engage with their children and connect to other families, creating an inclusive school community. Programs celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, sharing what different Spanish communities call common objects such as straws, drinks etc. - learning a new word a week. A delicious Cultural Dessert Social was hosted at both campuses, staff brought in different dishes representing the many cultures that make up the school community. A Turkey Trot was also hosted, bringing staff from all components of Children's Services to one event - celebrating and cheering for each other in a fun-spirited obstacle course event. Sponsored by the Boost committees, these activities bring us together, celebrating our uniqueness and our interconnections- how we all belong.
