Weidig Retirement Recognition
We wish to extend our best wishes to Ken Weidig on his recent retirement from Concord Twp. Fire Department. Ken joined the Fire Department on July 17, 2006 as Public Safety Educator.

Ken provided educational training and guidance within Concord Township’s schools, long term care facilities and foster homes. He assisted countless business owners develop safety plans and provided safety training to employees. Ken identified a significant need to offer additional resources to the seniors of Concord Township. He developed and sought out funding to initiate Concord’s residential lock box program. He provided fire safety information to our seniors which assisted them to safely live independently in their homes.

During his time with Concord Fire, Ken was involved in public safety initiatives throughout Lake County and the State of Ohio . Ken was instrumental in establishing a collaborative effort between several Concord Township churches and the Lake County Council on Aging which links seniors with community volunteers.

Ken has been a Mason for 40 years and a Shriner for over 25 years. Since 2006, he has served on the Board of Governors for the Erie Shriner Hospital. Ken was able to make available the resources of Shriner’s Hospital to a child in the Concord Community who was the victim of spinal meningitis.

Concord Township extends our gratitude and honors Ken for his dedication and long distinguished tenure of public service to the Concord Community.
